To All The Ladies Of The Canteen
Welcome To Spring Fever!
The days are getting longer and the just a bit warmer
I can see as much from the slightly open Dormer
Window as I gaze silently with eyes blue and wide
A family of birds in a nest on a branch way up high
So colorful against a cloudless, perfect sky!
From the door, across the yard and up to the tall, sturdy tree
Is a plan that I've been refining to accomplish most quickly
Though My Pretty One says that the time is just not right
With Tomcats dropping by and serenading me every night
So, I'll just have to endure a bit longer my Shut-In plight
There's damp grass to dash across and Moonbeams to chase
My Pretty One knows this and brightens up the place
With cups of lovely flowers put there just for me!
To breathe in deep, relish and rub against with glee
It's a sin that they are ignored when friends drop by for tea
Perhaps tonight, while My Pretty One is asleep
I'll slip outside to explore and play and leap
To savor the dark, cool air on my fur as I stretch and bound
On the other side of the yard's fence without making a sound
For Spring is here and I simply must get out and look around!
