I am white and do not feel guilty about things I didn't do.

Why this new minimalism in war?

Because if the world understood the full extent of our military power and what we can do with it, they would demand the same capabilities, and refuse to trade with us until they got it.

Ah, trying to make it a race issue. Just like the communists/socialists are trying to do.

Slow to anger, heavy handed. Crazier than any other collective group.

When we decide to destroy, the ware will end.

Had I been in the White House (as President, of course) on 9-11, this war would have been won unconditionally by 3 PM on that dark day.

Mecca, Medina, Riyadh, Teheran, Karachi, Cairo, Tripoli, Algiers, and every other major city in the Islamic world would only now be considered "safe" to enter from all the nukes that would have been unleashed on their populations. Ass-ghanistan and the tribal areas of Pakistan would still be lethally radioactive to this day.

Especially Mecca - I would have plasterd that satanic hellhole like our Cold War battle plans had for Moscow, the reaction of the world press be damned. Future generations would thank us for using a little radiation treatment on Islam's cancer on humanity's soul.

re ;Why this new minimalism in war?

Because we are winning, this way.

LOL I would of thought by now with all the threads on this subject, all the Military on this site both serving and retired, who have spent timer going over why we are fighting the way we are, and how it is enabling us to win the message would finally trickle down but its not.

LOL Civilians you got to love them, they will ask the same question again and again just like a five year old.

We no longer have the stomach for collateral damage. Not as a Nation. We have become "too civilized".

Because America is run by the MSM/DNC/UN/BBC Party, and have been for over 40 years.

See my tag line.

While the American liberal is the most vocal of the multiculturalists, they are merely the courier. And, as Mr. Steele points out, rush headlong into opinion based upon "feelings" of guilt, that is, with no rational, intellectual argument to back them up.

They are the couriers of a plan that was devised and implemented by Stalin during FDR's administration. FDR had many Soviet plants who knew there would never be a workers' revolution in America, that America must be turned Socialist by letting herself weaken and crumble from within. Part of the plan was to topple America's cultural and traditional past, its Judeo-Christian ethics and societal structure. When this had been toppled through moral relativism, it would be far easier for the workers/masses to rise up and turn America into a Socialist nation.

While the immediate effect of these Soviet plants in FDR's administration is debatable, there lasting effect was in the influence they had in passing on their goal to their replacements in government and especially in spreading this ideology to academe, where Marxism is alive and well.

Shelby Steele wrote a book about White guilt, so he sees it everywhere. I don't think there's anything racial about what he describes. It's the superpower syndrome -- or Vietnam syndrome.

If you feel that your back's against the wall and your survival's at stake, you put all you have into saving your life. If you're a superpower, you start thinking that you can win all conflicts with one hand tied behind your back.

You don't make the sacrifices you would if you were a less powerful country. Also, for a superpower with many weapons of mass destruction, there's a certain guilt attached to being the Goliath and using the most powerful weapons in your arsenal.

There's also some guilt attached to being a major part of a dominant global culture, but it's not racial -- especially since that global culture isn't "White", but international and intercontinental.
