"I think allen is a fantastic nominee and will make a fantastic president, clearly you disagree because you always jump on these threads and fire away."
You are upset about McCain's first amendement comment so how is it you can support Allen who is anti second amendment?

ah yes, but that was a SCOTUS sans Roberts/Alito - I wonder how they would view this now?
sidenote: to even ask such a question as above at the least shows that even the robed ones in black are ultimately, no more than We... and by silent inference, the greatest reason for preventing judges-who-would-legislate from ever occupying the bench.
"SpeakOut.com, with its issues and advocacy focus, provides a larger context for the presidential and senate races," said Naomi Lichtenberg, President and CEO of Issues2000.org.
------------------------------ Here are the facts ------------------------------
From Virginia's NRA Institute for Legislative Action:
Senator George Allen on the Right to Bear Arms Protecting 2nd Amendment Rights
As Virginias Governor and a U.S. Senator, I have a long and consistent record of supporting the rights of Americans to protect their families and themselves. I remain committed to protecting our Second Amendment rights, including that of law-abiding citizens to own firearms.
- Voted against renewal of the toothless Assault Weapons Ban because studies have demonstrated that it has not reduced crime.
- Cosponsored legislation to repeal the unconstitutional D.C. gun ban and an additional bill to allow pilots in the cockpit to be armed.
From The Brady Center on Sen. Allen's continued support of the 2nd Amendment:
"In truth, the NRA's top candidates deserve their "A" ratings, and their placement on the HCI "Dangerous Dozen" list. Governor Bush, of course, has never denied the NRA any of their agenda, as admitted by their chief lobbyist to the New York Times. Former Governor George Allen also rushed to liberalize Virginia's concealed-carry laws, and even vetoed a measure to prohibit guns in Fairfax County's teen recreation centers."
This would make a great tagline!
Strong post. The nexus between McCain and journalism is the nexus between "liberalism" and journalism - journalism is arrogant, negative and superficial, and anyone who promotes the ability of jounalism sustain that position is OK by journalists. The "liberal" politician decides that getting good PR is his only principle, and falls in with the journalisitic practice of cheap criticism of the people who actually do things - and who therefore make mistakes and are vulnerable to the second guess. McCain's "we're all corrupt and I have to stop us all from being corrupt," schtick is false humility.
The real import of McCain-Feingold is that only objective journalism is qualified to criticize anyone. And after journalism has criticized someone, the target of journalism's criticism has to undergo self-criticism and become purified like John McCain.
They play equally wicked games when they "revise" existing laws. The revisions take the form of incomrehensible "spaghetti code", in which they give a word or two here that they say should be added to a certain paragraph, another word removed, a comma added, etc. There is NO way to make sense of the "revisions" just by looking at them, and no way to read the original and mentally apply the revisions. They could simply do what writers do in the real world, i.e., use in-line revisions, and/or RETYPE the document in the final form so that it can be read by a human, but that would defeat the "advantage, lawyers." The only ones who really know what most of that crap means are the lawyers who crafted it in such a way as to be completely unreadable. And it remains that way -- until they decide to use it against someone, at which point they explain what happens when certain words are added and deleted vis-a-vis the original law.
Ah, good ol' "self-criticism".
The real import of McCain-Feingold is that only objective journalism is qualified to criticize anyone. And after journalism has criticized someone, the target of journalism's criticism has to undergo self-criticism and become purified like John McCain.
Say, isn't that something they specialize in "teaching" in places like communist Vietnamese and North Korean prison "reeducation" camps?
Gotta go rent a copy of The Manchurian Candidate...
Truer words seldom spoken.
To the press, ONLY liberals and socialists have First Amendment "rights".
Certifiable. He should be in the hospital. Not the Congress.
Someone should explain to him that dogs are not like politicians. With dogs, the crap comes out of the rear end. Muzzling them would accomplish nothing!
This really doesn't fit in to any discussion of RKBA, because an airline pilot is for all intents and purposes "the captain of his ship", e.g., "The Law" for the duration of the flight.
Allowing airline pilots to be armed is "pro-RKBA" only in the sense that allowing the police to be armed is "pro-RKBA" -- in other words, not at all.
McCain screws up big. That else is new? McCain screws up big all the time.
Dear God.
Reason # 463,912 why he won't get the nomination.
Methinks Johnny boy soaked up too much NVA propaganda in that prison.
I don't agree with him on the subject and don't think CFR is working, but I'd also like clean government and don't think we remotely have one. I also think other aspects of the 1st amendment, notably on no laws on religion, are more consistently violated than any of the provisions of CFR.
What we have now, according to GG Liddy, is campaign finance reform. What campaign finance reform has to do with the First Amendment is not clear to me, but what it has to do with the Modern American Corporation is very clear, even if the relation to the Fourteenth Amendment of the Modern American Corporation is a little murky. It is interesting that the ACLU comes down, sometimes, on the side of the Modern American Corporation when it comes to campaign contributions.
