“As Virginia’s Governor and a U.S. Senator, I have a long and consistent record of supporting the rights of Americans to protect their families and themselves. I remain committed to protecting our Second Amendment rights, including that of law-abiding citizens to own firearms.”
- Voted against renewal of the toothless “Assault Weapons Ban” because studies have demonstrated that it has not reduced crime.
- Cosponsored legislation to repeal the unconstitutional D.C. gun ban and an additional bill to allow pilots in the cockpit to be armed.
From The Brady Center on Sen. Allen's continued support of the 2nd Amendment:
"In truth, the NRA's top candidates deserve their "A" ratings, and their placement on the HCI "Dangerous Dozen" list. Governor Bush, of course, has never denied the NRA any of their agenda, as admitted by their chief lobbyist to the New York Times. Former Governor George Allen also rushed to liberalize Virginia's concealed-carry laws, and even vetoed a measure to prohibit guns in Fairfax County's teen recreation centers."
This really doesn't fit in to any discussion of RKBA, because an airline pilot is for all intents and purposes "the captain of his ship", e.g., "The Law" for the duration of the flight.
Allowing airline pilots to be armed is "pro-RKBA" only in the sense that allowing the police to be armed is "pro-RKBA" -- in other words, not at all.
Thank you for this information. I was having a hard time understanding why people would get behind a candidate that was against the second amendment.
