UNITED 93 FReeper Reviews
self | April 28, 2006 | RobFromGa

Posted on 04/28/2006 1:21:50 PM PDT by RobFromGa

Just saw United 93-- I thought it was excellent. It evolves in real-time and its cuts back and forth between the Air Traffic controllers, the Military room, and the plane.

It was somewhat shocking to watch the level of confusion in terms of what was going on, but when you see what information that they were dealing with, it makes sense.

The hijackers to me came across more as fanatical than evil, and they were not turban-wearing obvious characters, they were cleaned up and I ride on planes with people like them on every flight I take.

In the movie, they are carrying out the plans of others and are obsessive in their task. We are not fighting an enemy that is likely to be reasoned with.

There is one character that I'm glad they included- he has a European *maybe French* accent and he makes a number of comments along the lines of "If we do what they say, they'll spare our lives"-- typical appeasement mentality.

Thanks to this group of heroes, many thousands of lives may have been spared and we kept the Islamic nuts from claiming the Capitol or White House as a prize.

I give in 9.5/10!

United 93 is cinema verite style of filming.

There is no moral viewpoint and no moral compass. It merely shows what it has concluded happened.

It shows human terrorists doing human things and then unhuman things.

It shows human travelers doing human things then heroic things but without any support from the score or an ending that would make a moral judgment that what they did was better than what the terrorists did.

It implies there was no direction and action at the level of the federal government up until the film ending abruptly with the fields of Pennsylvania large in the the cockpit windshield.

Osama bin Laden supporters can view this film as easily as can Americans.

"If they are lukewarm, I will spew them out of my mouth."

I agree .. and my theory is this: if we get enough people in both houses to give our repubs the real majority they need - we can hopefully show them that cowering to the dems is no longer necessary.

I do think we'll hold the house and senate - but then we'll have a battle trying to get them to listen to Americans and not just democrats.

I never applaud at movies (not as if the actors are there to receive it) but I might make an exception for this one, especially here in commie San Francisco.

Have not seen it yet, but from what I gather it is true to the story so we won't see each of the hijackers getting drilled through the head with a 9mm. Too bad. I might have to rent an old bond movie afterwards...(from the Connery era)

Have you seen it?

Yes, we just got home from seeing a matinee.

The quote is from the Gospel, said by Yeshuah, the Christ.

just saw it - a truly excellent film, captures the confusion of the day, the unthinkability of it

That was another thing that I forgot to comment on-- the movie allowed me to remember what it felt like to have September 10 thinking again.

Back to a time where we didn't all know what we are up against. For a few hours I got to go back to pre-911 and re-experience the anger I felt and the feeling that everything had changed permanently.

I really enjoyed your review. I am from Texas and 16 days after 9/11, I was in Manhattan and around 4:30 in the morning a friend and I decided to walk down to ground zero. We got past all the police/army/etc. They just let us walk by.

When we came up upon that blown up area of buildings and the smoldering ruins... I looked around in dismay and could only think that someone just made a very loud statement: "This is WAR, come and get us!"

Ground Zero is a HUGE calling card...

Take him. Then answer all of his questions after. He will appreciate that you thought him mature enough to handle it. It might "grow him up" a bit, too.

We're going on Sunday.

Some people say they can't face re-living the pain.
That frustrates me somewhat.
Like Todd Beamer's family has a choice.
They live it.
Everyday.

The Families of the brave people depicted in this movie want us to see this.

Don't we at least owe them 'this' much?

God bless these brave Americans who struck the first blow against the murdering, Islamic terrorists. I'll be going to the theater for the first time in a long time also. Those afraid to go see it need to remember, THEY could have been on that plane.

This sounds like a movie that is very much worth seeing. Reason is only possible with reasonable people. You can never reason with a fanatic or zealot.

I concur.

Why deny the truth to a 13 year old?

It will serve him well to know the truth.

Thanks RobFromGa. Seems the MSM has been trying to make sure we sheeple get the message that "It might be too soon for people to deal with this movie"...Baloney...this movie is just what we need. As long as the relatives and friends of those on Flight 93 gave their approval, that is all I needed to know. They were involved in the movie and attended the premier.

Never Forget...Never Forgive 9/11/01.
