UNITED 93 FReeper Reviews
self | April 28, 2006 | RobFromGa

Posted on 04/28/2006 1:21:50 PM PDT by RobFromGa

Just saw United 93-- I thought it was excellent. It evolves in real-time and its cuts back and forth between the Air Traffic controllers, the Military room, and the plane.

It was somewhat shocking to watch the level of confusion in terms of what was going on, but when you see what information that they were dealing with, it makes sense.

The hijackers to me came across more as fanatical than evil, and they were not turban-wearing obvious characters, they were cleaned up and I ride on planes with people like them on every flight I take.

In the movie, they are carrying out the plans of others and are obsessive in their task. We are not fighting an enemy that is likely to be reasoned with.

There is one character that I'm glad they included- he has a European *maybe French* accent and he makes a number of comments along the lines of "If we do what they say, they'll spare our lives"-- typical appeasement mentality.

Thanks to this group of heroes, many thousands of lives may have been spared and we kept the Islamic nuts from claiming the Capitol or White House as a prize.

I give in 9.5/10!

I saw a 2:30 showing (in the Atlanta area, too). I am encouraging everyone I know to see this film. A big thing I came away with is a sense of pride in those forty heroes that sacrificed and fought back. I think every American needs to know just how much their fighting back REALLY means to this country. See it to honor their memory.

In addition to the many, many, great reasons to see this movie listed here, the best reason may be because the left is DEMANDING that we not be reminded of the real events that day, and who the bad guys are. If we can give that movie some nice weekend box office receipts, it will be a sweet and needed victory for us.

What I do wonder about, however, is when the Muzzies (and the MSM) are going to start saying that the movie is "anti-Islamic" and start threatening theater owners and others. I'm surprised it already hasn't happened yet.

"The only reason I wasn't crying in sorrow and pain was because I was too busy shaking with rage and hatred."

I thought I would cry and brought hankies. Instead I left the theatre nauseated. I was upset thinking "people just are not going to get it." They don't get it after five years. Do you think this movie will help make them understand that we are in a real war with a real enemy?

I feel exactly as you do. Although I will not see the movie at this time cause the whole experience is still too raw for me...... Whenever I hear idiots defending the terrorists or saying America deserved this. I want to also explode in anger and rage.

"'These animals are the same as the terrorists down in Gitmo to whom the Democrats are so adamant about giving rights.' It made me angry to think about that." Right you are .. and this conclusion is exactly why the democrats and the media have been whining about it being "too soon" .. they would rather you forgot about the terrorists in Gitmo!

In other words, the movie theater owner is a liberal and he doesn't want to show the movie. This was a WORLD-WIDE opening!

Call them on it!!

Actually, it used to be airline (and Air Force) policy that part of the flight crew's job in a hijacking was "preventing passenger heroics." I would expect we're past that attitude now. Can't say I ever agreed with it.

YES, IT WILL BE TOO LATE - KKK Robert Bryd has already stated on the senate floor that the first order of business when they get the congress back is to IMPEACH BUSH.

I'll be damned if I'll allow that to happen. If we are stupid enough to allow that .. then brace yourself for all hell to break loose. The terrorists know the democrats are weak and they will take full advantage of it.

We saw it at the first showing today. The theatre was about 60% full at 11 AM.

Not any more graphic than a CSI on occasion.

First, we were angry....then, VERY PROUD.

GREAT movie!

I loudly said, "God Bless America" after about 10 seconds after the very end of the movie, and people were getting up. People clapped when I did so. Then, I said it again, and finished with a "Let's Roll."

GOD BLESS THOSE BRAVE SOULS, AND THANK YOU FOR BEING GREAT AMERCIANS.

That filmmaker did an excellent job of telling the story and not any agenda.

But the film doesn't address the issues of the ability of cell phones to function at 500 mph, thousands of feet in the air...

The cell phone "issue" has been roundly debunked as nonsense.

"... time to confront this issue before a nuclear-armed Iran kills perhaps several million people at the push of a few buttons to launch ballistic missiles aimed at Israel and most of Europe."

Speaking of which .. I find it interesting that so many in Europe adore the Clintons .. but it was the Clintons who allowed the North Koreans to get the technology they are now selling to IRAN .. so Iran can intimidate Europe.

Hope Europe is happy with that fact!! These liberals are idiots.

You and me are not that stupid but there are hothead FReepers at this site who would cut off their noses to spite their emotional faces because our team players in Washington are admittedly underperforming. To such people there is no difference between Hillary and Frisk and thus they are checking out. We have to rescue these bitter minds from jumping off the cliff while at the same time increase pressure on our Congresscritters in DC.

Just got home from the movie. I was disappointed in the small crowd, in Houston, though I did go to a 4pm showing on a Friday.

I liked the movie for the most part, though it seemed to want to finish in a hurry. Seems there could have been more coverage of the phone calls the passengers made. I also think some footage from the ground in NY that day, of the panic in the streets, might also have been a worthwhile addition. The video work at the end as the plane was heading toward the green field was pretty incredible.

One woman was openly crying at the end of the movie. The entire audience that was at the showing did applaud at the end. We have to support the movie, it's worth it.

Yes, I do think this movie will help people understand what the WOT is really all about.

Don't worry about the 5-6 percent of the dem party over at DU and MoveOn - they are deceived and blinded by their hatred of GW. That's okay - THE REAL MAJORITY OF AMERICANS WILL GET IT - BIG TIME!!

The depths by which they will go to convince themselves that their delusions are reality is astounding.....and very dangerous....

The DUmmie are ignorant and naive, living in a fantasy world of their own making....God Helps us if they should regain power come November...

Well .. in most pre-9/11 hijackings - the terrorists just held the plane hostage for money or such .. using the planes as flying bombs was never an issue.
