DURHAM -- An official with the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense said the black nationalist organization is providing security for the woman who has accused Duke lacrosse players of raping her.
And the organization is distributing recruitment brochures with information about a rally planned near the Duke campus for Monday. The brochures ask, "Had enough of disrespect and racism from Duke University?" The materials contain photographs of Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann, the two white lacrosse players indicted and charged with raping a black exotic dancer at 610 N. Buchanan Blvd. the night of March 13-14.
"We'll do the escort and the security, going to court, whatever it takes" to protect the accuser from threats allegedly being made against her, said Minister Na'jee Shaka Muhammad, national field marshal with the New Black Panther Party who is based out of Atlanta but working in Durham with the dancer and her family.

The New Black Panther Party rally and news conference is being planned for Monday morning in front of an entrance to Duke at Chapel Drive and Duke University Road. Attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz, the group's national chairman and the national spokesman of Black Lawyers for Justice, will be the keynote speaker.

Founded in 1989 in Dallas, the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense has chapters across the U.S. It preaches self-determination for a black nation through revolutionary changes. Among other tenets of the organization are calls to free all incarcerated black people, exempting blacks from military service, education that "exposes the true nature of this devilish and decadent American society," and demands for trials by a jury of black peers.

I got this from a web-site where average people argue or discuss the Duke alleged Gang-Rape:
"The defense attorney's quite wrong when he claims this "proves" there was no sexual assault, especially given the hospital records. She was absolutely beaten and strangled, and either had sex or was raped close to the time of the battery. All this test shows is that they used condoms. (Also, I'm waiting for details -- was this just the "rape kit"?" ENDQUOTE
This was the common thinking a week or 10 days ago. Now they've gone from the "Rapists" wearing condoms and Jackets (to prevent DNA under the nails) to USING A BROOM.
When you make a victim statement in a serious crime, you cannot change you statement on the material facts. It's laughable that people are going to such extreme lengths in an attempt to make this woman's story work.
Another thing I sick of hearing on TV: She doesn't deserved to be raped because she's a dancer?
What a false argument! Who takes that position?
It automatically makes her a victim and makes the people questioning the evidence (or lack of it) out to be proponents of rape.
The sister of the Nicole Brown Simpson was on Rita Cosby's show tonight (she came right from her Meta-Physics class) and she was saying people blame women because of their skirt length and she said How she feeds her children is totally irrelevant in this case. Wendy Murphy said on Tucker Carlson that IF the woman is referred to as a Stripper, the team should be referred to as Stripper Users!! I wonder if Mrs. Murphy is also referring to the team members not at the party?
It's consistent .. the boy are called Lacrosse players and the woman is called a dancer.
If we are to call her a Mother and a sister like Murphy advocates, then the press should be calling the players, Sons, Brothers, and Uncles. Murphy's argument is tantamount to reporting a Truck Driver that was robbed at gunpoint and his truck stolen as Father. Would the news media object to him being called a truck driver? It's germane to his function in a news worthy story.

A Durham civil rights activist says the woman was "TERRIBLY SODOMIZED".
Her Father, that's offering this Broom attack, also said that after being released from the hospital she dropped off her car at his house and left with her boyfriend.
And, in the Father's first interview he indicated that he learned from the reporter, for the first time, that his daughter was a Dancer or he didn't know she had been in the incident, “(She) didn’t tell us anything about it,” he said.

The driving and dropping off of her car after her release that morning and leaving with her boyfried and the initial reports from her Father, that he didn't know anything about the incident, don't make it sound like she was terribly injured.
I expect next week they'll be claims the her fingernails wer e ripped out during a torture ritual and she was placed in a garbage compactor. The Civil lawyer must have advised the family that the more injuries - the More $$$. That explains everything.

Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong, who is prosecuting the two Duke sophomores charged with raping the first dancer, signed off on the agreement.
I can't say (Kim) Roberts is getting favorable treatment for becoming a better prosecution witness. I was not in the lawyer's office when it happened. So I can't say a transaction occurred - and I never will. In all honesty, I think somebody did something ... that's my honest-to-God impression.

Duke lacrosse players cite money dispute

Several Duke lacrosse players who say they were at a team party the night of the alleged rape of a 27-year-old woman have told ESPN's George Smith that an argument over money and the amount of time two exotic dancers were expected to perform was at the center of a dispute that night.
The players, who agreed to speak with ESPN on the condition their names not be used, also admitted that slurs and bad language were used by some players and the dancers during the argument.

The players, who would not go on camera, also would not discuss many details about the case or answer more specific questions about exactly what happened.
But they told ESPN's Smith that not all 47 players were at the party at the time the woman said she was raped; some had already left. The players told Smith they admit it was foolish to have the party, but deny that any rape occurred. They also believe the two students charged so far will not be convicted.

I read it that she must have described John Doe #3 as having a mustache. Looking at the photo line up she points to someone who looks like mustached #3 but without the mustache.

Also Wednesday, attorney sources said the accuser was only 90 percent sure about her identification of one of three men she said attacked her, and she tripped up over a mustache.
Looking at a photo lineup, the dancer told police the man in question "looks just like him without the mustache," the lawyers said, citing a written investigative report.
But the alleged third rapist had no mustache on the relevant night, if he ever had one, according to attorneys. They said photographs and eyewitnesses would prove their point.

In other lacrosse case developments, May 15 is evolving as a potentially pivotal day. That is Nifong's next opportunity to take the name of a third assailant to a grand jury for indictment. Although there's also a grand jury meeting
Monday, Nifong faces a Democratic primary on Tuesday and has said he wouldn't seek and indictment the day before because it would appear to be politically motivated.
May 15 is also the day that a second round of DNA tests is expected back from a private laboratory. It is also the date for the next scheduled preliminary court hearing in the case.
"There will be an interesting confluence of events on the 15th," Nifong said.
