Time for a new FreeRepublic folding@home thread.
Our FreeRepublic team of 300+ members comprised primarily of Free Republic members in good standing have banded together to donate their excess CPU cycles to a worthy cause. Via distributed computing, millions of computers around the world, contribute directly to scientific research, in the quest for a greater understanding of diseases such as Alzheimer's, Cancer, and Mad Cow (BSE).
Currently, the team is in 117th place (with 1,038 active CPUs - 29,000 completed Work Units and more than 5,000,000 points).
This is an entirely voluntary program, and if you want to learn more, please see the links posted below (or read one of the previous 16 folding threads)

I've been getting a lot of 20,00 frame projects lately. Takes about 2.5 or 3 days to get through one. I think large projects are worth more per frame ?

I think large projects are worth more per frame ?Not sure about that. My base unit is currently working on a 50,000 frame unit that pays only 376 points. It will take days.

You've left me in the dust! Wimp...go out and buy oodles of cpu so you can keep up!
Actually I know how you feel...I'm being left in the dust by several other FReepers. Mrs Drango, AKA she who must be obeyed, has said NO MAS.

Mrs Drango, AKA she who must be obeyed, has said NO MAS....tell you like I tell Egon - start collecting those old free computers that your neighbors are wondering how to get rid of.
Before you know it, you'll have a whole farm of cpu's folding away.

...tell you like I tell Egon - start collecting those old free computers that your neighbors are wondering how to get rid of. Before you know it, you'll have a whole farm of cpu's folding away. Post on your local bulletin boards that FRFT has authorized you to be their local rep for their "Computer Recycling Department". You, in the interest of a cleaner enviorment, and recycling efficiency, will help anybody dispose of their old computer equipment, FREE OF CHARGE! You will then be able to come up with a farm for nothing. It may be a slow farm, but there's power in numbers !!!

It's been awhile since I last checked and now we are below 1000 CPUs. What has happened?

Check the monitor. You're showing 3 machines in the red. Klutz has over 30 in the red. I don't know if that does it or not but it might.

we are below 1000 CPUs. Some of my slow PCs take so long to crunch a 2107 that they fall off the "active" list before they finish. They seem to be handing a lot of them out again.

Two of my PC reported in on the 7PM update and I finally cracked the 10K mark. I think that spunkets beat me to that milestone by about 12 hours.
