His speech started about 8 minutes ago. You can listen live at http://760kfmb.com/listen_live/
President Bush has been willfully negligent in enforcing immigration law. There's no way around it. The evidence has been presented over and over on this forum.
I do not appreciate you persistently painting those of us who want enforcement as irrational, and all the other names that we are called.
We are patriots. Personally, I not only voted for Bush/Cheney in 2000 and 2004, but campaigned for the ticket both times. I have lost multitudes of friends and associates because I finally switched to the party I belong in, and I live in the "belly of the beast," Los Angeles, California.
I have been a firm supporter of our war against islamofascist jihad, and especially a supporter of the troops, in deed as well as in word. I am disgusted by Democrat smears on the administration. He has the right and the power to give orders concerning this war.
However, I seriously diverge (to the right) from the administration on some matters, and on the matter of the illegal invasion and border security most of all. There is no way around the evidence of negliglence on the part of the administration. I don't care what he has SAID in terms of proposals and policy; NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.
He PERSONALLY cut back the Border Patrol instead of increasing it. As Bill O'Reilly is stating this morning, the best "fence" we can have on the border is law enforcement personnel, the Border Patrol and the National Guard.
Finally, I believe that this weakness on the domestic front -- the failure to be firm with the invasion from the south -- seriously detracts from the efforts we need to be making in fighting the even bigger threat of islam.
I think that those of us who want a crackdown on illegal immigration greater than what the congress or the adminstration are proposing are in the minority.
That's all I mean.
Good day, SeaBiscuit. Thanks for the civil dialogue.
Others around here are not so kind, so I'm taking my leave.
Had to read this three times. Is it your contention that real Republicans should not point it out to our elected representatives and president when they stray from conservative principles? That we should keep donating to the RNC and giving our time to campaigns so that we get the exact same results that the Dims promise and deliver? Someone is way off base in their assumptions. The conservative base is not stupid. Party loyalists that do not research any further than the party line are dangerous.
BUMP!
And being on threads like this ages ALL reasonable people, zook. :)
I'm sorry that your standards of judging what a great president actually is have sunk to such low depths. I remember every president since Roosevelt, and GWBush is at the bottom of the barrel, along with Lyndon Johnson and Jimmy Carter.
I'm not advocating violence toward EITHER side.
It's clear there is no way to convince someone who is so infatuated with another person, that the person has any faults. (Does the shoe fit?)
Bush is self-destructing and taking the Republican party with him.
You keep telling yourself "all is well" in what ever little Lunesta dream world you're living in..
Have a nice day, sw
..he had every intention of pushing this through right before 9/11 happened!!...We were that close.
Unfortunately, so much has happened since, most of us forgot this was the plan...
..and here it is.
You're right, he's still on record....I guess I didn't realize the ramifications, and I know I'm not alone.
This can be a good thing....because many of us didn't realize how bad it was/is in Arizona, California, Utah!even, Texas, etc.....
The light is shining bright enough to illuminate this for us all......and we don't like what we're seeing!!!!.
spectre is sick of it....I am sick of it....lots of folks are sick of it!
People may be angry--now. But y'all want people to be angry enough next November to stay home from the polls. I also get angry when my representatives don't vote the way I want. I live in PA, with Specter, and I wish I had a dime for every time I said I wouldn't vote for him. But when push comes to shove I know that the old saw about "maybe having a Democrat in there will teach people a lesson" is a bunch of bull.
So, instead of pushing anger here on FR, I'd say people ought to weigh the good W has done against whatever there complaints are and quit bashing him.
It was never said that you did. I just made the point that if Bush was in favor of Tancredo's policies with illegals it's doubtful you'd have the least bit of concern of what anyone said about him, including those few who call for his impeachment. In fact I suspect you'd be all over him the same way Tancredo is attacked constantly by a tiny minority.
one of the greatest Presidents of our lifetime.
People shouldn't put undue blame for this on Bush, however.
After all, he's a lame duck at a 33% approval rating.
Much of the blame belongs with Bush's allies, such as Ted Kennedy and John McCain.
I believe we are in the majority, it's the leftist media that would have us believe otherwise. Have a good day.
John & Ken couldn't get David Dreir ousted from his Congressional seat and they TRIED.
I've always supported and respected the President...
..but this issue is very disturbing and he truly can't have it both ways, as he seems to suggest.
And Specter, and Brownback, and Hagel, and.....
