Update: CIA Officer Fired for Leaking Classified Info to Media

WASHINGTON — A CIA officer has been relieved of his duty after being caught leaking classified information to the media.

CIA officials will not reveal the officer's name, assignment, or the information that was leaked. The firing is a highly unusual move, although there has been an ongoing investigation into leaks in the CIA.

One official called this a "damaging leak" that deals with operational information and said the fired officer "knowingly and willfully" leaked the information to the media and "was caught."

Not really ~ over the last 3 years we've had a massive run-up in the price of homes in the DC suburbs.

Mine increased over 300% (for example).

The result is most Washingtonians have homes they couldn't afford to buy.

There's not been a factoid or supposition about this case discussed today that wasn't discussed last evening.

BTW, that particular post of mine arose out of concern by some that there was no connection between McCarthy and Wilson.

Obviously there were several connections between McCarthy and Wilson, and maybe even more than we ever imagined. I think if you do some very good research on FR archives you'll find people referencing "Wilson's new girlfriend" who is also supposed to have been a CIA type.

My own thoughts on the matter are that we should look to the old "Progressive" school ties and blood relationships for the other folks involved in this one.

You left out Sandy Berger. Berger and McCarthy are two examples of Washington officials with the highest security clearances, and the highest responsibility, intentionally breaking the law. And for political gain. They really learned well from old Bill.
