Reza'i: Iranian Nation To Make 'Final Decision' in Confrontation With US IRNA (Internet Version-WWW)
Bushehr, April 21, IRNA -- Secretary of the State Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei (Reza'i) said here late Thursday the Iranian nation will make the final decision in the challenge with the US.
Addressing a gathering in this southern province, Rezai said the Iranian nation, as proved in 1979 Islamic Revolution, is decisive in defending their rights.
He rejected the possibility of a US attack on Iran, saying under such crucial circumstances in which there is a possibility of economic sanctions, the Iranian nation will have the final say.
"Should the Americans start a war, the Iranians will weather it as they did during the eight-Year Sacred Defense (the 1980-1988 Iraqi imposed war) and the Islamic Revolution," he said.
Referring to the US president George Bush's recent threats against the stances of Iranian officials, Rezaei said authorities in government, Majlis and armed forces have programs for defending the nation.
"Islamic Iran has capabilities to defend herself. We hope not to face a critical condition; however, Iranians will defend by all means in case of any assault," he noted.
Turning to the success of Iranians in mastering the nuclear fuel cycle know-how, Rezaei said such a development, while putting some in anger, is suggestive of Iran's enormous capabilities and capacities.

The rhetoric coming out of Iran sounds an awful lot like the rhetoric that came out of Iraq about four years ago.
Has Baghdad Bob found a new job?
It really gives me the impression that it is some sort of coup. I'm more worried about Cuba.
This story keeps popping into my head:

Yeah, and Iran's knowledge was helped in no small part by the US, and Jimmy Carter. I was in the USN in 1977 in training at the Great Lakes base. We were just about overrun by the smelly arrogant SOBs.
I didn't like them then, and I like them less now.

Thats funny, Saddam said the same thing. Boy, he sure is weathering it well from his jail cell.
Might be just a wee bit difficult to defend yourself against this assault:
By cutting off Cuba's source of funding (at least in U.S. dollars), we have kept Cuba's genie in the bottle. That's what has flabberghasted me about our relations with China. Did we learn nothing from bankrupting the U.S.S.R.? You stop communism by cutting off it's source of revenue.
Cuba will always gravitate to the worst people on the planet because it's leadership can't find support for it's actions outside of the Hollywood elite and prominant U.S. Marxists. Fortunately they aren't parting with their funds on it's behalf, execpt to glorify Fidel whenever possible.
Iran's flirtations with Cuba probably won't translate into much of anything tangible. Iran is not going to be allowed nuclear weapons IMO. Someone will eventually grow a spine and put an end to the leadership there that is making the current anti-social (globalist) rantings.
If not, Europe and the U.S. are in for a tough ride. I remain somewhat hopeful that western leaders can still recognize pure evil when they see it, at least for a little while longer.
It's been said that life is a series of mistakes, terminated by a fatal one.
Your points about cutting off funding is exactly what was in my head when I saw this today:

My whacky thoughts....
If the tunnel network was connected from Iraq through Syria and through Iran...
Was it joint research and work? Could the Nuclear tests and equipment be Irans now?
If so, and the nuclear test speculated on in this thread:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1618601/posts
is real, then could Iran be further along?
Laura, do you have a link to that article your wrote about the birds dying? And the speculations on whether it was a nuclear test?
Um...what does sewing have to do with it?
You can *rip* what you sew...but you *reap* what you *sow*.
As in Iran could provide Castro a nuke that could hit the Eastern US?
