You're Invited: D.C. Chapter's 8th Annual White House Correspondents Dinner Freep, Sat. 4/29/06

All FReepers and lurkers in good standing are invited to join the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic at our 8th annual freep of the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday, April 29, 2006 in Washington, D.C.

This is our most fun freep of the year. You never know who in the media and political world you'll meet there. Over the years, we've met and debated the likes of Al Franken, razzed Paul Begala and James Carville, been filmed by Drew Barrymore, cheered on Fox News reporters and freeped the liberal media with humor and serious barbs.

Afterward, we retire to the hotel where the dinner is held and watch it on TV in the bar while we dine and relax with our FRiends.

When: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, April29, 2006

Where: Across from the Washington Hilton, 1900 Connecticut Avenue and T Street, NW, Washington D.C.

This is a rain or shine event.

As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.

Too bad. I'm definitely coming. I want to make Walter Reed, as well, but it's not clear if I can get there in time.

We're just too bogged down with work, family commitments, and Zelig hurt his ankle (Achilles heel or tendon injury, actually). He's having trouble walking. Darn, and I think for once the weather is supposed to be really nice, too. The last two times we participated in the WH Correspondents Dinner Freep it rained - but we all still had a great time, of course!

Hope YOU have a great time this weekend, and you somehow manage to run into Tony! ;-)

Posting on this thread for all three events.

We are leaving by 9PM for the trip. I will be seeing you Lord Willing (and car cooperating) at Walter Reed this evening. I will be with 80 year old FReeper/family friend Bill (Wheelbarrow)WW2 vet, who was my first choice to experience the whole 2 days/3 events.

If he at his age & physical condition(you will see what I mean) & coming this far, can make it, I surely hope locals or "not too far" FReeper will also.

I yesterday FReepmailed my cellphone # - please let us know if there are any changes along the way for tonight,

We will have no signs & will have my two pooches

Cant wait!!!!

Sometimes the White House press corps just makes it too easy for us to mock their liberal bias.

Okay. just saw the president's "double"- he should have this at every news conference AND he should a have a few minutes of air time following the "wilson-plame" diatribe to come.
