Yeah, and this was also just about the same time the president was talking about freedom and democracy in China.
Dam hypocritical, IMHO.
Just goes to prove something I have felt for a long time about politicians.
They don't get elected because of what they DO, they get elected because of what they SAY.
And after they get elected, they are totally free to turn around and DO the TOTAL OPPOSITE of what they SAID.

True. But a legal press pass means that you agree to certain things...and not heckling the people you are covering is one of them.
Like I said, she did what she did and it may indeed have been heroic. But she knew the consequences ahead of time. Sometimes doing the right thing does not mean there won't be negative consequences.
I'm just saying that if she did not want to be arrested...then this was not the place to protest. Perhaps if she wanted to be heard, it was.
I believe this was a situation where nobody is morally wrong.

No I don't think so. If he and his family had that much of a dislike they would renounce family business ties to China. That as well damages our foreign policy and sends the wrong message.
So you're in favor of any journalist yelling whatever he wants at a White House state function without penalty? Or just when you agree with what they yell?

P.S. I believe this situation is a special circumstance, as the gov't that she is protesting jails people with dissenting viewpoints and who attempt free speech. So, to prove how China is doing wrong, we jail her for exercising free speech? A bit of a contradiction, isn't it?
Well, if that's what she said, then I can understand them treating it is a potential threat.
Never assume much based on what the AP says Bush did.
Even when the AP quotes Bush you can't assume much unless you know the full context from which the quote was taken.
In this case there isn't even a quote.
I do think it would be more appropriate for Bush to refuse to meet with China's president. However, I don't expect a reasonable presentation of the facts on this from the AP.
After all do you remember the AP printing this kind of thing when Clinton was dealing with the Chinese?
