U.S.-born actress warned 'she will be sorry' unless she pulls out of film
Sienna Miller
Sienna Miller reportedly feared for her life after getting a flood of death threats from Islamic extremists.
The American-born, British-bred actress best-known for starring in the remake of "Alfie" as well as her engagement to actor Jude Law, is said to have received a torrent of vicious threats from Muslims furious she's starring in "Interview," a remake of director Theo van Gogh's 2003 thriller.
Van Gogh is the Dutch director who was shot and killed in 2004 by an Islamic extremist in connection with his film "Submission: Part I," which was aired on Dutch television in August of that year.
Warning letters have been sent to Sienna, 24, who is currently filming the movie in New York, stating "she will be sorry" unless she pulls out of the project.
"Sienna refuses to give in to these threats. The people behind them represent everything she abhors," a crewmember told Britain's Daily Star. "The film hasn't got anything to do with Islam. But because it's being made as a tribute to Theo, the Islamic fundamentalists have hit the roof."
"She was scared to begin with," the source added. "But her co-star Steve [Buscemi] has been receiving similar letters, so they've been supporting each other and laughing about it."
;-)
Sienna Miller rules. TROP Koranimals drool.
Yeah, get a load of THAT, Achmed!
They better not touch Steve. He's one of my favorites.
Buscemi is a former firefighter who helped with the cleanup of Ground Zero.
Thanks for the info.
How about Michael Moore?
I said "innocent life".
Freedom of religion? Fugeddaboutit.
Freedom of assembly? Ha! The fascists aren't about to allow that either, etc.
The US should be willing and it should be quick to wage all out war on any and all comers (including "religions") who would try to take away these basic freedoms from us. imo
I don't think you have a grasp of the Constitution. The Bill of Rights, and in particular the First Amendment, only prohibits the government from restricting speech or religion. It does not prohibit private individuals from restricting the speech or religious practices of other individuals.
I understand that. I don't think you do, though. Your argument doesn't apply when foreign governments and their proxies attempt to deny Americans of their constitutional rights.
Could just as easily have been:
"______ ______ gets death threats from Muslims"
When it comes to 'slimes, it's simply "fill in the blank" time.
Stinkin' lunatic crud.
The best single thing that could ever happen to this sorry old world is to have Mo'hammyism survive only in history texts.
The Constitution does not protect the individual rights of U.S. Citizens against the acts foreign governments.
So it's not okay for the American gov't to infringe upon those rights, but it is okay for a foreign government to do so? Ooooooookay, sure thing, got it. ;-)
That is correct.
Well, apart from your claim that the Constitution doesn't prohibit foreign governments from governing the lives of Americans, which I vehemently deny and think ludicrous on its face, it has little to do with my original point (which is simply that we've effectively lost those rights if the government won't defend them).
The average American recognizes that Islam is the greatest threat to world peace.
Why won't our elected Repesentatives?
I understand you initial point, and I agree with you, except for your attempt to turn this into a Constitutional issue, which it is not. However, if you really think that the Bill of Rights prohibits foreign governments and individuals for infringing upon our civil rights, then I challenge you to provide the textual basis for your belief.
IIRC, the Constitution does in fact speak to the defense of the country (and if that doesn't include the people and their rights, I don't know what 'country' means), and so in that sense it is indeed a Constitutional issue. It involves our Constitutional rights, and our being denied those rights by a foreign power. And it involves the Constitutional responsibility of the CIC and the Army to defend the country.
Are you a lawyer, Lab?
Yes, a lawyer, and I also taught constitutional law for several years.
