While two parents in Lexington, Mass., are upset about the fact their second-grade son was read a fantasy book in school about two princes getting married, what makes them even more angry is the fact the boy's teacher said because same-sex marriage is legal in their state there is no way a mother or father can opt out a child from such experiences.
"We are outraged," parents Rob and Robin Wirthlin told the local Article 8 Alliance. "This is a highly charged social issue. Why are they introducing it in the second grade? And we cannot present our family's point of view to our children if they don't tell us what they're saying to them."
According to a statement from the traditional-values organization, March 24 the Wirthlins' second-grade son came home from Estabrook Elementary School and repeated to his mother the story read to him earlier that day about men getting married to each other. His teacher had read the book "King and King" to the class, in which a prince doesn't want to marry any princesses, but instead falls in love with a princess' brother and marries him in a big palace wedding.
The Wirthlins say they immediately contacted the teacher, Heather Kramer, who acknowledged she had read the book to the class and admitted that it was not part of the curriculum.
It was explained to the couple that since same-sex marriage is legal in Massachusetts, discussion of the matter is fair game -- parents do not have to be informed before or after the issue is presented. Kramer reportedly told the Wirthlins that the theme of the day was "weddings" and the teacher wanted to present all points of view on the subject.
Article 8 Alliance reports other parents in the school claim Kramer attended a presentation last year by the Gay Lesbian & Straight Education Network on promoting homosexuality in the classroom.

States the organization: "Lexington school officials continue to claim that homosexuality and homosexual relationships do not does not constitute human sexual relationships and thus do not trigger the Massachusetts parental notification law Ch. 73 Sec. 32a."
After the Wirthlins met with Kramer and Principal Joni Jay to discuss their concerns, Jay sent an e-mail to the couple inviting them to contact Dr. Paul Ash, superintendent of the school district, "since your concerns involve district-wide issues."
As WorldNetDaily reported, a North Carolina couple was equally outraged two years ago when "King and King" was read to their daughter's first-grade class.
Estabrook School was also in the news last year when father David Parker faced prosecution for trespassing and spent a night in jail after confronting school officials about homosexuality being discussed in his son's class.
Exactly. Pull your kids from public schools.
I believe you nailed it. This is abuse. This is as wrong as it can be. If my kids were in this class they would be pulled immediately and homeschooled.
Sodomy, oral sex, and "normal" intercourse are also legal in the state.
Should they be discussed in second grade? Why not first grade. How stupid are these teachers and administrators? (No answer required to last part).
Oh yea, it's the home state of Lurch the liar and teddie the fat slob drunken murder.
Something drastic needs to happen immediately.
Yep those of us above a certain age were raised in the Dark Ages, before you were required to discuss homosexuality in schools.
A gay marriage should be as unremarkable and natural, even beautiful, to people of all ages as heterosexual marriages if gays are not to be second class citizens looked at askance when children grow up.
At least that is and must be the gay agenda unless you can set the inferior status of their views in stone and permanently shut them up no matter how hard they press. If they press harder it could require draconian measures. If you accept even a bit of their open expression, you will get it all in decades or generations.
That is the conundrum.
I have family and friends in Lexington, MA. The town is lovely and filled with reminders of American history. Unfortunately, though, Lexington is a bastion of liberalism--in no small part because of its proximity to Cambridge, MA. A number of professors from Harvard and MIT have chosen to live in Lexington, away from the college town atmosphere of Cambridge, and they have worked overtime to inject their far left bias into that otherwise charming town. Obviously, the Lexington School System, once one of the finest school systems in New England, has been tainted by the poisonous notions of those who consider their effete liberal views superior to those of the parents of the children who attend Lexington Schools. Parents in Lexington, MA, need to stand up to the arrogant school administrators before those administrators succeed in destroying the school system altogether.
What's next? Potter books?
Homosexuality is only about sex, this is just like any other sex ed material.
If is not approved the teacher is toast.
This is a sex ed story.
This is an effort to normalize specific sexual conduct.
It does not have any place near children. It should only be in the adult material section.
I'm glad I'm past those days, but you've definately got the right idea. Just keep close tabs on those who come in contact with your kids.
Actually, we already do. Our boys are 10 and 5, and they have no idea about this evil, although I'm starting to inform our 10-year-old about some evils in the world. We're providing our kids with a classical homeschool education. By the time they finish what we call the 8th grade they will have a 12th grade education, but not a 12th grade education of today. A far superior 12th grade education. We're doing what we can to raise tomorrows leaders.
I hope so, but this is Massachusetts.

This kind of brainwashing disguts me.Can't children just be CHILDREN for a little while before they get the inevitable exposure to the filth of the"real"world?
However, I still make the point that when I was growing up no exposure to the gay agenda could have MADE me gay unless I was that way ANYWAY.I still oppose these types of books but if you are straight you are going to be that way no matter what.
Great points! I'm furious that so many perverts are teaching our children and it sickens me that so many parents let them.
The only way to stop this crap from continuing to happen is for disapproving parents to control the majority on the school boards. I hope Rob or Robin Wirthlin decide to run for the school board and can energize like minded parents to do the same.
....but if you are straight you are going to be that way no matter what.
&&&
I think that they are targeting children because they know that there are some -- not all -- that can be turned. Perhaps the kid will be bisexual, but these pervs will then have access to them. Many children go through a stage of confusion about their sexuality, and the perverts hope to capitalize on this. Those same kids may later get a better grasp of their own sexaul identity and straighten out, but, of course they will have been scarred for life.
There are probably a number of kids, such as you were, who would never be candidates, but there are probably a lot more who are vulnerable these days, considering all of the lack of parental role models and the disgusting junk that the kids are exposed to now.
BTW, I am certainly no expert in this area, just a mother of 4 grown sons and an observer of culture and human behavior.
