This week Iran presented the US with the ultimate challenge and Washington must now make a decision. Is it fighting to win?
Since the September 11 jihadist attacks on the US mainland, President George W. Bush has stated repeatedly that the greatest threat to global security is the specter of rogue regimes and terror groups acquiring weapons of mass destruction. At his January 2002 State of the Union address, the president declared that the regimes of Iran, North Korea and Iraq comprised an axis of evil and a central goal indeed the most crucial goal of the US-led war was to prevent them from acquiring or maintaining arsenals of weapons of mass destruction.
......................
This week Teheran threw down the gauntlet. The greatest battle of this war - the battle to prevent the world's most dangerous regime from attaining the most dangerous weapons known to man has begun. The moment has arrived for President George W. Bush to make clear if he is, in the final analysis, the leader of the free world or its undertaker.

So I'm to take it that you are indifferent WMD strike on Jews? How about a WMD strike on black people? Jews in the US are only about 60% Dem these days while blacks are 85%+.
Quote: Unreported by the MSM ( you gotta dig)

This week, the US tried again to engage North Korea at a symposium in Tokyo. Pyongyang reacted by threatening America with destruction. North Korea's Defense Minister Kim Il Chol said last Saturday that in the event of a US strike on the country, North Korea, "will mobilize its political-ideological might and military potentials built up generation after generation and mercilessly wipe out the enemies and thus viciously conclude the stand-off with the US."
The US chief negotiator, Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Hill, responded to Pyongyang's call to obliterate America by saying, "We've got the right format, the right deal on the table the September deal so we have to be a little patient and realize that this is the right approach." ( wrong response?)

That depends on what the Iranaina attack will be. Its only a matter of time. Iran has removed all of its gold resources from European financial institutions as of last week. A sure sign they are about to act.
The piublic may end up demanding we go to war, especially if the Bustards float a nuclear mine down the Gulf and set it off.
I agree that withdrawing the gold from European banks is a worrisome sign, but it may be in anticipation of UN sanctions.
Having said that, Iran's president is a genuine kook. I used to think that Kim Jong Il was a nutcase, but now I am thinking he just wants to ride the tiger and stay in power as long as he can. Ultimately, he wants to survive.
This Iranian nutzo is a different can of worms. He really does believe the crap he is venting to the world. We are going to have to take him at his word and take him out.
Well.....I guess that this is GOD be with You All [otherwise known as Good-Bye];
see most of you in HEAVEN, prayerfully.
They've been saying the same thing for the last five years.
Oil, gold and silver prices seem to support your opinion. I filled up my 'hurricane' 100 gallon gasoline tank a while back at $2.19 a gallon.
(BTW my son is on his way to Dai Nihon in a week, for a second stint at teaching ESL, at Kanazawa. He was in a little yown called Ichinomiya last time, near Nagoya.)
I hope that Nihon is watching its 6, Kim Jong Il may be about to pull some nastiness if the USA is attacked by Iran.
I hope the gold withdrawl by Iran was in anticipation of possible UN sanctions, but those are still at least a couple of months off, if they come at all thanks to Russia and China.
Tex Mex Chili: I lb of hamburg ( use ground beef , chicken or pork), 6 ounces of semi sweet bakers chocolate, 3 ounces of chili peppers, 3 red peppers, 3 green peppers, 2x12 oz. cans of kidney beans, and 4 oz. of chili powder, 1 bulb of fresh garlic, and 1 large onion, olive or corn oil, one can of Sapporo beer, one small 8 oz. can of tomato paste.
Pour the cooking oil into the cooking vessel to cover bottom. Chop up all the vegetables to a size you prefer, I like em on the big side so they don't turn to mush. Crush the garlic and chop it fine.
Heat up the cooking pot until the oil begins to smoke and put in the meat with onions, garlic and chili peppers. Fry until the meat is about half cooked, stirring so as not to burn the garlic. Put in the chili powder and chopped up chocolate, stir until well combined. Pop the top on the Sapporo and pour it in ( oh the foam, love it!), add the tomato paste and stir. Bring to a simmer and add all the vegetables and beans. Let simmer on very low heat about 20 minutes to a half hour, stirring frequently so the bottom of the mixture does not burn. Salt to taste.
Serve the chili over rice and/or corn, and use another ice cold Sapporo to go with the meal. Warning: It's HOT.
The chili leftover gets better every time you heat it up.
(Writing this has made me hungry, off to dinner I go!)
I hope to God that you are right.
What a know-it-all and control freak. This woman wants war so badly she is seething with hatred.
I liked your quote so much that I thought in this time of uncertainty, that it might do us all some good to read it!
Thanks!
I agree with what you say. I'm just trying to look at it from the point of view of the typical, uninformed American whose main concern is who is going to be the next winner on American Idol. Like it or not, most people in this country have no idea about what is going on, other than what the anti-American media/hollywood tells them. Of course this wouldn't be as much of a problem if Bush could do a better job of explaining the necessity of any action. But as I'm sure we have all noticed, he doesn't seem either capable of, or concerned with, sufficiently making his case in such matters.
I'll agree with that and go a step further. Hillary said that she wouldn't run in 2004 and would in 2008. She implied sure knowledge without reason of what will happen in the future. Was she being a blabbermouth, or are we not running through some sort of Ford-Dole-like motion for 2008?
Can one "milk" a "male" horse? Maybe that's about to be proven for Baby Boomer politics, but I don't think the next generation will put up with as much as we have.
But then again, maybe the President's busy. Maybe he'll soon give an address to us from a secured Iran.
While the Jewish breakdown by persuasions (60% dem, you say) may be true, the influence of the liberal Jewish slant is prevalent in the MSM by my reckoning.
I never said I wanted to see Jews in Israel exterminated (see post 37), and your accusation of such is exactly the type of thing that I am concerned about...wild claims and emotionally wrought fervor untempered by logic.
See post 37 and 38. I also resent being called a neo-NAZI because I don't hold the same allegiance to Israel as you do. You people stop putting unprinted words in my post! As far as I'm concerned, people like you are willing to drag the US into anything simply because of bunch of, as yet, unsubstantiated reports and bravado statements.
Unless Congress declares war on Iran, Bush should not act.
