Gay parents crash White House party
Herald Sun ^ | 18 April 2006

Posted on 04/17/2006 4:11:15 PM PDT by Aussie Dasher

US President George W. Bush and his wife Laura launched the annual White House Easter egg party today while managing to avoid any awkward moments with dozens of gay couples and their children who attended the outdoor event.

The Easter Egg Roll is a traditional all-American event held on the White House lawn each year since 1878, where kids push an egg with a giant wooden spoon, often with the proud president and his wife looking on.

But gay groups joined the queue for tickets - which were given out to families on a first-come, first served basis at the White House on Sunday.

Despite the opposition of conservative religious groups, Mr Bush and his wife Laura chose not to prevent the gay parents from attending.

The gay groups said their gesture was meant to make their presence felt in American society even though Mr Bush opposes legalising gay marriage.

There were no confrontations or tense moments as the opening of the event was closed to the public, with the president and his wife meeting invited guests, including families of White House staff and volunteers.

The gay parents also chose a discreet approach without any explicit protest, identifying themselves with rainbow-coloured flowers.

"Like other parents in this country, we want to give our children the best opportunities, to shower them with love, to teach them respect and a love for the rich and diverse traditions America has to offer them," said Jennifer Chrisler, executive director for the Family Pride Coalition.

Family Pride has been behind the calls for gay groups to crash the White House party which conservatives have condemned as an attempt to politicise a family event.

In damp, chilly weather, First Lady Laura Bush issued an official welcome before the Easter eggs were rolled across soggy grass outside the White House.

"In Washington, we know that spring has arrived when the White House lawn is filled with children for the Easter Egg Hunt," she said. "I want to thank all of the children here today who brought their parents with them."

The First Lady avoided commenting on the gay couples and before the event her office noted the rules: children of all ages are welcome but there must be at least one aged under seven in each group and no more than two adults in each group.

Where should I go? Can't answer my question because as a freeper, I bring a different perspective and leaning and that's not exactly left, per se.

Try DU.

Your question: "do you know any homosexuals?" is inherently flawed in premise as it implies that homosexuals may exhibit some inherent characteristic(s) that negate their disordered condition cause unknown or negate their choice to engage in disordered sexual activity.

One does not need to "know" a homosexual to know that they suffer a disorder -one does not need to "know" a homosexual to observe that homosexual activity is disordered...

Your question is a question premised in leftist propaganda -it is a question that ONLY addresses the humanity of individuals -it is a question objectively irrelevant in regards to opposing the homosexualiation of society -it is a a question ONLY relevant to advancing arguments supporting the homosexualization of society -a question that in premise is but a moral relative construct that attempts to conflate opposition to homosexual activity and opposition to the homosexulization of society with hatred of or misunderstanding of human beings...

Posting the question is simply posting propaganda. Seeing the question posted is an indicator of leftist ideology either knowingly or unknowingly embraced by the one posting the question...

Until you get deprogrammed -I would suggest you read more and post less on this issue as you have objectively embraced leftist delusion.

If you can not do that -then go away, per se....

Must be terrible. Much worse than all those straight families where Dad beats up the kids and chokes them to death. I'll bet that's much less traumatic for the (dead) child than watching 2 mommies show each other some affection.

You too -go away...

That's not true at all, in fact. Homosexual sex is quite common in bonobo monkeys. Sex (both heterosexual and homosexual) is used as a socializing mechanism, helping to grow bonds within their communities.

Thank for that interesting info...

Now go back to DU where mimicking monkeys is the norm.

Troll.

Wow. You sure feel strongly about this. I doubt that President Bush and any of the Republican leadership feel the same as you - and you know it too. Even Senator Santorum has gay people on his staff. Too bad you worry so much about this when there are way more important issues to be concerned about.

Yep. Whenever people disagree you think we should go to DU or call us trolls.

And you can't state that they ARE molestors! CAN YOU?

I recently moved to another state from CA, one that is much redder than CA and in the next town over, two girls, ages 10 and 12 were molested by no less than 4 men. The grandmother had some boyfriend who molested them, they were molested by their 50 some year old male babysitter, they were molested by their stepfather, and by some other man I can't recall. Do a google on Patriot News (harrisburg PA area) and look at Sunday's paper. It's all there. I would rather my lesbian neighbors raised those kids than those monsters. I would rather any of the gay parents I know raised my kids rather than those monsters.

Of all the horrid, terrible high profile crimes committed the last few years, - Carlie Brucia, Jessica Lundy (sp), Danielle Van Dam, Polly Klaas, Elizabeth Smart - all these girls were kidnapped and raped and in most cases, brutally murdered by heterosexuals. I will grant that there was ONE case I know of where two boys killed their dad and they were egged on by someone molesting them.

You know as well as I do that the molestor can be the kindly, Mr. Smith next door. The molestor can be gorgeous Debora Lafave schoolteacher type. The molestor can be the priest that counsels your kid every day, or he OR she can be the minister or Rabbi or coach or produce guy.

You just don't know. I agree with you, that you can't tell who is a molestor or not based on outward appearances....and not by sexual orientation either.

I wrote back to Political Mom and pose to you the same question. How do you know what mom or dad do, or step dad?

What about the MALE that just killed the 10 year old girl in the midwest. He killed her, assaulted her sexually after death, and was about to eat her.

I don't know. I posted a lot of things regarding deafness last week on a different thread, and I was in the majority there.

Actually I didn't say anyone on FR is intolerant. There are about 110 posts regarding this subject; I don't think that's a lot. I think most people could care less.

All I was saying is that it is a mistake to assume that gays don't molest, assault, murder, beat, etc. They can and sometimes do. And, yes, I have had many gay friends in my life.

Well, that was big of them - not to ruin the day by turning it into vulgar political rally.

Wow. You sure feel strongly about this.

Deal with the substance of my posting(s) to you. Save the 'feelings' stuff for DU after your eventual zotting.
