Perfect!
George Allen in 2008!
"put the pedal to the metal" on immigration reform and "first and foremost, secure the borders."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.................
the message is sinking in..how many senators will join him?? This issue will keep the GOP in control or will loose the House for the GOP.
Well, at least he gets it. Few others in DC seem to.
Allen has a winning issue if he plays it right. With border security, War on Terror, pro-choice and low taxes coalition he can win in the primaries. But he has to show a little fire in the belly. No one will ever call him overwrought.
Bravo to George Allen for stating this. Hopefully, the senate will follow through.
Remove incentives and secure the border. Let people repatriate themselves since they can no longer support themselves here.
End working here illegaly, end free healthcare and end free education. End them today and one year from now half those here will be gone.
Two years from now they'd all be gone.
Actually, now we have approximately 20 million in the country illegally and Twenty years from now we're going to have 50 million. Two years ago they were saying there were 20 million, but now they don't want to panic the populace, so they've shrunk the number. Those protests are telling a different story. When they can get half a million out in just one city, it must be far worse than anyone suspects.
"[For] the people out there in the real world . . . this is a hot issue," Sen. Allen told CBS's "Face the Nation." "I think the Senate needs to put the pedal to the metal, get moving, make decisions and first and foremost, secure the borders."On some of the amnesty bills currently before Congress, Allen said: "We should not reward illegal behavior because all you'll get is more illegal behavior."
Sen. Allen Squishy on Immigration Reform
Human Events

Potential 2008 Republican presidential candidate Sen. George Allen (Va.) declined Wednesday to support the idea of a fence separating the United States and Mexico, but said he would back a guest-worker plan as envisioned by President Bush.
In an exclusive interview with Human Events, Allen passed on the opportunity to take a firm stance on immigration reform -- likely to be one of the key issues among Republicans in the 2008 presidential sweepstakes.
When asked directly on whether the United States has the capability to build a fence along our border and if it was his top priority, Allen said building a physical barrier was only worthy of consideration. He cited economic concerns with installing such a security measure and said he supported comprehensive policies that included a guest-worker program.
Below is the exchange I had with Allen yesterday.
Q. Does American have the engineering capability to build a fence along the border that would keep people out?
SEN. GEORGE ALLEN: Do we have the engineering capability?
Mmmhmm.
ALLEN: I suspect so.
Q. So, this is the follow up, why dont we?
ALLEN: Because it would be -- I dont [think] its worthy of consideration. The reason is, while something might be able to be done at an enormous cost to the taxpayers if there are more effective ways of doing it other than a fence, whether its with surveillance and more personnel, and surveillance--
Q. Are you in the camp of those supporting the virtual fence idea?
ALLEN: I think a virtual fence would be much less costly to the taxpayers. I think the key thing, regardless of virtual or actual fence, which would take a long time. Lets assume we wanted to build the Great Wall of America, which can be done, it would take years and years. Im watching the Woodrow Wilson Bridge being built here, which is a much more difficult task than building a wall. Its not over a river. The key point is to make sure we have a workable, legal, guest-worker system in this country not rewarding illegal behavior. Not this dont ask, dont tell--
Q. Do you support closing the border first before we do guest worker or do you think they go hand-in-hand?
ALLEN: I think you need to do all of them. You need to do all of them.

Wrong. We have 20 million now .... twenty years from now we're going to have 60 million. It boggles my mind that while the federal government constantly seeks more and more power, they demonstrate clearly that they are incapable of administering the power they already have. SECURE THE BORDER NOW!. Any 'comprehensive' plan can wait until after they play their disgusting blame games leading up to the November elections.
Nothing against Allen, but I wonder how many more are going to toss that spear, and will my kevlar vest be able to stop them.
It's never "better late than never".
George Allen has moved to the right on border defense. He was wishy washy before. I can only hope he got an earful from constituents and saw these illegal alien marches for what they are. A DAMN DISGRACE and illegal alien ARROGANCE PUSHINESS at it's worst
I agree, Securing the border must be the first step.
Allen: "Uhhhh...I think the Senate needs to put the pedal to the metal, get moving, make decisions and first and foremost, secure the borders."
The Gullible Conservative Majority: "Allen's our man for 2008!"
~meanwhile, back in DC...~
K Street Power-Broker #1: "I'm a little worried about the rhetoric coming from this Allen character...I thought he was our man, bought and paid-for?"
K Street Power-Broker #2: "He is, but our...ahem, his handlers have told how to play the game. He doesn't want to cut the cartel money pipleline any more than we do, but the "citizens" are getting restless. Why don't they just get in their SUV's, drive to the mall, spend lots of money, and appreciate the society we've created for them? There is no need for them to meddle in affairs that are beyond their understanding. They trusted Bush for a while, until that Meirs fiasco...maybe Allen's little speech will keep them quiet for a bit, before they get any ideas about resisting our agenda. It's for their own good, after all."
K Street Power-Broker #1: "You think Allen can quiet them down in 2008?"
K Street Power-Broker #2: "He's just what the country trusts - a tough-talking Southerner who isn't bright enough to do any real damage. Hillary would give the game away...besides, she loves exercising power too much to be trusted with the big chair. We'll keep her around through - she's good for frightening the mental midgets in fly-over country. If we can threaten them with the prospect of her as President, they'll accept almost any alternative."
K Street Power-Broker #1: "And he won't get any big ideas that he really is in charge?"
K Street Power-Broker #2: ""We haven't had a guy think that since Reagan. He messed up our timetable a little, but we're back on track now. And believe me, Allen is no Reagan..."
Glad to see the Senator SAYING some of the right things.
Of course, the current occupant of the Oval Ofice is SAYING some of the right things....
