There you go....we have to channel him into useful endeavors.

However, I don't think HE knows yet that he won't be POTUS...so until he figures it out...we better be careful in praising him too much...lol

BTW..from some threads I have seen....Tom Delay is doing what Newt could be doing...taking on the Congress directly, instead of sitting on his chair and making pronouncements.

I think 24 officers resigned but it was hushed up in the press.

"I found it amusing that he stated categorically that the President and the Pentagon were not doing any planning for a military option against Iran."

Arrrgggggh!!!!!

I can't believe I'm doing this, but.....

It is possible (just possible) that he meant "planning" in the sense of "intending to" and not in the Pentagon sense of coming up with plans for every cockeyed scenario.

If he meant the former then he isn't wrong... THIS TIME.

I'm a generous person that way.

However, Kristol is a tool.  That goes without saying. (I wonder if anyone will forward this post to him somehow - wouldn't that be a hoot, getting an email from him - "thank you... I think...")

In 1993 and 1994, four Foreign Service officers resigned in protest over the Clinton administration's reluctance to take military action in the civil war in the former Yugoslavia.

We need more think tank kinda guys. They are the ones who built this revolution. We have to make it our mission to remind them that it isn't about THEM.

After a Roman general's victory when he was given a triumphal parade through Rome there was always a slave positioned to whisper in his ear "rememeber, you are mortal."

If that is our role, so be it. We need folks like Newt, more now than ever. We don't need them to forget that the mission is more important than they are (or we are).

Will you ping me when you get the transcript. I thought this was one of the better FoxNewSundays.

the Mitchell/Dodd was very good - from Mitchell 'Iraq is more optimistic about their country than we are about ours'!!!! wow!

from Dodd 'This is very very important - these Generals are important people, with all due respect, Rumsfeld is a past tense man. another wow!

Newt was very good - especially towards the end. That is when I decided the transcript was a must, he made some very interesting comments.

Now for the highlight of FoxNewsSunday -- so glad Brit is on today! Don't know which role I like him in best. I like Brit in control, but his manners have to be more gentle. When on the panel I love to watch his face when he is disgusted with a comment. And we got some good ones today, didn't we!

Brit say Rumsfeld is being criticized NOT for recent events but for past mistakes like back in 2002.

Mara says - ya but still ....

Bill - I was for removing Rumsfeld when it was cool!

Juan - Zinni has a new book out. and Rumsfeld should unite the country.

Brit, you are never going to unite the country.
Ralph Peters and David Ignacius,-- got to read what they have said.

I thought the round table was great - there was some very interesting dialog going on - at least at the time I thought so.

and thanks for sending the other links during the week.

Thank God for Rush.

I agree, but if he's half the man I think he is, Rush thanks God for us, as well.

He is show prep for the drive by media.  We are show prep for him.

LOL!!

I agree that Newt has a grasp on politics better than most anyone except ROVE...

he can do a decent job of slapping the best strategy down...

but I can certainly call him a scumbag too, eh?

LOL!

Lots of scumbags are smart and don't lie under oath..

To: snugs

Hi, snugs. Got called away from the computer. We do the Easter brunch at my sister's home. I am in charge of Christmas Eve. My brother does Thanksgiving, and another sister has a huge cook-out on the Fourth of July. We all help a bit, but rotating the holidays really makes it easier, especially because we have a big family. I am VERY grateful that I don't have to cook the turkey dinner for 25!!

I read the article in the link you provided. Very informative.

The argument that women can not be priests is not a closed issue, but that is the Church's position for now. this nun is able to raise some very valid arguments and it will be increasingly difficult to " avoid" this issue.

I often think that the "cafeteria style" concept also belongs to religious groups who choose one century to forbid blacks in churches and accept slavery, and then a decade later denounce slavery. To prohibit divorce, yet later allow a Kennedy to get an "annullment" from his ex wife who did not want one and "wipe out" a marriage that produced several children.
