Watch for this to become the battle cry. Charles is this generation's William F. Buckley. This may be the issue that eclipses Buckley's sway over the intellectual heart of the conservative movement (not to say anything against Buckley, per se, but it's time to pass the torch).

I need to find a transcript.  Do you remember which show this was on?  I'm betting this is not a random statement from him but will be the basis for a column this week.

Sorry, Phsstpok...it wasn't on a show---I think it was on Studio B with Trace Gallagher.

It was just a regular interview....and it was such a great idea...but, he has sort of said this before, he just had more time to expound, than he does when he is on one of the panels.

You may be right, though, that he is letting us know what his next column may be....or maybe he already wrote this in a column.

Great post phsstpok! Many of us get the same things you get out of the thread and FR. I know last week I spent a lot of time on this thread and learned more than I dreamed about stuff that the average Joe will seldom read in the drive by papers.And you are a great credit to the site as well.Could we get another link to your pre-thread?

Some day I would love to buy you a drink and sit and just talk.  I have no specific plans this year but almost every year I plan how I'd like to come down to Atlanta (which of course I assume is right next door for you) for DragonCon each September (I haven't been yet).  If you're anywhere near there (and I get my act together to go) or if you ever have cause to get up to the Memphis area, please let me know and I'll gladly "pass the bottle I'm drinking from."

By the way, lovely pictures on your about page.  I had not been there before.  You certainly have beautiful children.  Mine are a just a bit older than your oldest (apparently) at 23, 20 and 19.  As you know, it DOESN'T get easier as they grow up, just more complicated <g>

The Coast Gurad reminds me of FR. They never ever get any credit for the fine work they/we do.
In the Straits of Fla. they have much of Southern Fla. linked by radar. They position boats at strategic locations and no one can get off of their radar without being spotted.

All of the talk show hosts and guests are talking about Beltway politics. None of them are discussing what is actually happening out in the Heartland.

For instance, they aren't talking about Concealed Carry laws that are now the law of the land in 47 out of 50 states.

Nor are they talking about Castle Laws that are following the CCW law trend today.

Instead, they are talking all-Beltway, all of the time. They are having conversations that policy and political strategy wonks in DC have every day...not what is going on in the real world.

I am in metro Atlanta-- but in NW area....suburbs, the town I live in is divine! Just like an old town..nice lI am even just a couple block from the beach.....and less than 3 miles from shopping, and my son's school...and our church...the girl's school is within walking distance, on the way to the beach! LOL!

thank you for your kind words on my children....they are my treasures! the girls are passed out from all the fun today!

If things go right- and you get down here in September.....let's just say- we might be able to "chat" and let FReep listen in!
