Schools are out. Many businesses knock off before noon, but it's nothing official.
Rumsfeld understands how Washington works from various perspectives. He has been the White House Chief of Staff, and served four terms as a Congressman.
Don Rumsfeld is no stranger to running a large organization aside from DOD. From 1977 to 1985 he served as Chief Executive Officer, President, and then Chairman of G.D. Searle & Co., a worldwide pharmaceutical company. The successful turnaround there earned him awards as the Outstanding Chief Executive Officer in the Pharmaceutical Industry from the Wall Street Transcript (1980) and Financial World (1981).
Rumsfeld served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Instrument Corporation from 1990 to 1993. General Instrument Corporation was a leader in broadband transmission, distribution, and access control technologies. Until being sworn in as the 21st Secretary of Defense, Mr. Rumsfeld served as Chairman of the Board of Gilead Sciences, Inc., a pharmaceutical company.
I haven't scratched the surface of Rumsfeld's impressive resume, which is replete with outstanding management and executive performances.
Rumsfeld, unlike most of his civilian predecessors, is not just a figurehead deferring to the military. He is actually in charge, which must be upsetting to some. He makes decisions after consultations. Again, Rumsfeld has a long and distingusihed record as a manager and executive in the government and the private sector. Now suddenly, he is a browbeating tyrant who doesn't know how to manage people and resources. I just don't buy it.
Must have been a big shock after that empty suit RINO from Maine.
I've heard of people fishing for big gar or paddlefish using a bait made up of loose, twisted fiber... with NO hook. The teeth of the gar get enmeshed with the fibers and they can't get loose.
A Happy Easter to all!
I though the name of Sr. Chittister sounded familiar. Did a little research and this sounded familiar. From The Nation in 2001:
"Arguably, the best known is Sister Joan Chittister. A fiery orator and prolific author, this 66-year-old Benedictine nun made international news last year when she refused to obey a Vatican order forbidding her to speak at an international conference in Dublin on the ordination of women. Chittister made her decision in the face of Vatican threats of "grave penalties," which could have ranged from excommunication to expulsion from her monastery in Erie, Pennsylvania. "The Church that preaches the equality of women but does nothing to demonstrate it within its own structures...is...dangerously close to repeating the theological errors that underlay centuries of Church-sanctioned slavery," she told the emboldened crowd at the gathering."

This was the morning guy. On from 6am to 10 am.
Exactly, where were the generals when Clinton and Cohen were gutting the military? Where were the generals when Aspin refused to send armor to Somalia costing 19 American lives and wounding 75 others? This is all political. It is being led by Zinni, who is upset that his war plan wasn't followed.
Happy Easter AP.
he understands alright...
he loves McCain....anything he can do to snipe at Bush without looking like a Lib...even though he still looks like a lib when he does it anyway....
he makes me ill...his little cross the arms thing like "ha! I am brilliant so just eat the spoon I give you" irks me!
With a tiny proportion of the population we have now.
With so many Americans so ignorant of our history, they are prey to the media's misrepresentations and outright lies.
From today's Steyn column:
You know what's great fun to do if you're on, say, a flight from Chicago to New York and you're getting a little bored? Why not play being President Ahmadinejad? Stand up and yell in a loud voice, "I've got a bomb!" Next thing you know the air marshal will be telling people, "It's OK, folks. Nothing to worry about. He hasn't got a bomb." And then the second marshal would say, "And even if he did have a bomb it's highly unlikely he'd ever use it." And then you threaten to kill the two Jews in row 12 and the stewardess says, "Relax, everyone. That's just a harmless rhetorical flourish." And then a group of passengers in rows 4 to 7 point out, "Yes, but it's entirely reasonable of him to have a bomb given the threatening behavior of the marshals and the cabin crew."

It is obvious that the Fox panelists who are for appeasing, cajoling or ignoring the threat from Iran, need to read this and memorize it!!
Other than Brit Hume, we have no one to actually discuss issues and report FACTS.
Which is why the lefties on the other stations rip at Brit every chance they get.
And who was, by the way, deeply involved in our operations in Somalia.
