Heart of Texas Chapter April Meeting Planning Thread

Posted on 04/14/2006 12:09:14 PM PDT by DrewsDad

The Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com is looking to have a meeting this month. Saturday Evening, April 22nd or Sunday, 23rd look like the most promising times.

The location is a bit more up in the air.
Possibilities include:
Walburg(north of Georgetown - Exit 268)
Saltlick(SW of Austin in Driftwood)
Lockhart BBQ(20-30 miles SE of Austin)
Elgin Sausage/BBQ(East of Austin)
Spaghetti Warehouse(downtown Austin)
Ironworks(downtown Austin?)
Texas Roadhouse(I35 south of Austin/Slaughter)
(Insert you idea here)

Anyway, instead of me forcing a decision on everybody, I thought that I would open it up to local FReepers for their input on time and location.

If we have it on the 22nd and maybe near downtown, we could commemorate Earth Day with a short demonstration then head to an eating establishment. I was thinking we could meet somewhere near City Hall and burn a communist flag in honor of Lenin's 100th B-Day lining up with the 1st Earth Day in 1970. We could call for Saddam's execution since he is one of the worst polluters ever. Then we could drive our SUV's and consume massive amounts of food and drink.

Hey David, Good idea is this. Hope anytime Sunday is the winner as shelfishly, I can't make it Saturday evening. Any place is fine with me.

Hope you can join us one of these times. It would be nice to get together with the SA Freepers again.

Pretty much any of these sounds good to me. Lockhart or Driftwood especially.

Ironworks or Spaghetti Factory. No FReep, just cocktails.

= )

Also, I am totally confused as to why I am not on your pinglist.

Oops, I'll have to add you. I just cut and pasted this list from an old draft saved in my email. Gracey is the official keeper of the chapter list since she is the VP of Membership. Hope you can make it.

OK, H.O.T. Exec. Committee, you've got some input. Now get 3 of you to agree and set a time and place.

OK. I'll be first.

Let's do it SUNDAY, April 23.

No preference as to place or time. Perhaps Sunday mid afternoon so we can have a long period of time together and still leave early enough for those that have children? It seems that we have a large contingent of people with children so maybe we can have our affair at a kid friendly place?? McDonalds??? lol

I vote for Saturday, as DrewsDad already said Sunday was out for him. I'm still going for either Lockhart or Driftwood....

I vote for Saturday, also--can't make Sunday.

I'm switched to Tarawa's side--Driftwood or Lockhart.

Rudy's BBQ on 360, my default with-the-kids standby.

I'm just a peon now, so it's not critical that you schedule this around me. Gracey can't make it Saturday and Basil can't make it Sunday, so someone get's left out no matter what.

BTW, you don't have to hash this out publicly on this thread. Where are The Bat Lady and TXBubba? I gotta run now. Y'all have fun.

I'll be there!
If this Get-together happens downtown, I vote the Spaghetti Warehouse. OTHERWISE, this Shindig should be at the SaltLick BBQ in Driftwood, .......and make it Sat.

Basil just called for me to check this out. I have been freeping in a big way locally...... and for now, I won.

Anyway I'm out because the Minutemen are covering Texas in April. I had things every weekend and next weekend was the only one left to go to Falurries. This will be our 3rd time. I plan to get there and say "Bat Lady reporting for duty!" with a great salute.

The Sarce is out of town and no promises that she will be back by that weekend. I think Sat. is a big seminar she wanted to try to get back to attend. So IF she gets back Sunday would be better for her chances. From here the Lockhart or Roadhouse would be doable for her.

I'm not a very good secretary, am I?
