Cowardly Central: Censoring 'South Park' Again
NY Post ^ | April 14, 2006 | MICHELLE MALKIN

Posted on 04/14/2006 5:08:34 AM PDT by Panerai

I'VE never been a "South Park" fan, but the animated show's last two episodes on Comedy Central had me hooked. Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker keyed off the continuing conflagration over the Mohammed cartoons (published last fall by the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten) to lambaste their own network's capitulation to Islamic terrorism.

Viewers are viciously, deservedly, mocking the network for its cave-in. "Comedhimmi Central," jibed one of my Web site readers. "Cowardly Central," derided Canadian blogger Damian Penny.

The plot of Wednesday's show revolved around Kyle (one of the "South Park" kids) trying to convince a Fox network executive to air an uncensored episode of the animated show "Family Guy," even though it contained an image of Mohammed. (Many Muslims consider it blasphemy to depict Mohammed, though his image has appeared in art, architecture, and literature throughout the ages with nary a peep.)

"Do the right thing! Show Mohammed!" implores Kyle, as his nemesis, Cartman, pulls out a gun to force the network executive to pull the offending episode. (There's also a must-see send-up of the White House press corps.)

After much anguish, the Fox exec agrees to air the show - but, in place of the planned image of Mohammed, a black slate appears to announce: "Comedy Central has refused to broadcast an image of Mohammed on their network."

Prior to the start of the true-life Cartoon Jihad, "South Park" had featured cartoon images of Mohammed without incident. A 2001 episode titled "Super Best Friends" featured the Muslims' prophet as a superhero with flame powers. No fatwas ensued; no suits complained. But when Parker and Stone wanted a Mohammed image for their latest show, Comedy Central balked.

South Park is vulgar, crude, crass, irreverent and juvenile; but a turd by any name smells...

"but what about Scientology? Parker and Stone wouldn't dare try to do a show about the RELIGION OF HOLLYWEIRD!"

If this ISN'T a joke, then I nominate post #2 in this thread as:

MOST CLUELESS POST OF THE DAY!

I loved the press conference with the journos having trouble with arcane concepts such as the First Amendment.

It's funny because many journalists act like idiots on those press conferences.

no more posts on this please.
too many stupid people who just don't understand south park or the sarcasm used by people who post on the south park ping list.
it's killing the threads!

I don't think it's fair that we can't have any more posts on this. How about everybody just freepmails their posts to you and you can OK them before we post.

You can choose which posts are acceptable and which posts should be censored.

Here's the chain of events I've put together from various articles/ interviews/ etc. None of this is outlined in all one source and some of it (which I'll try to indicate parenthetically) is my conjecture from these sources:
Matt and Trey had a story that involved an image Mohamed (probably based on the Danish cartoon stuff)
they brought it to CC, CC said they won't show an image of Mohamed
Matt and Trey (changing the plot) come up with a two parter revolving around cartoon's not being allowed to show Mohamed by their network execs
With the extra week to come up to the plate, including a challenge at the end of the 1st part to not "puss out", CC doesn't change their tune and censors the episode

William Donohue had his sense of humor removed by a Mohammedan psy-op terrorist.

He never got the episode about bleeding Mary either.

Not really fair... your particular brand of performance art wouldn't work if people didn't fight you about it.

South Park's past caricatures of Jesus haven't been that negative. In the past they have had him living quietly in South Park sort of ignored by all the pompous self-centerd, fad-obsessed, adult residents. (Pompous self-centered fad-obsessed left-wing adults vs 'rational' libertarian elementary school kids is the whole point of the show!)They did show him as a 'talk show host' on local cable access who wanted to talk about serious subjects instead he had to follow the advice of his 'media adviser' in order to keep his ratings up. I found that episode to be a metaphor for churches that opt for 'entertainment' in their services rather then a real service.
Stone & Parker are the Jonathan Swift's of TV. They are equal opportunity hecklers and are ready to puncture with the glee the pretensions of Hollywierd or anyone else who has publicly demonstrated a sense of obnoxious self-importance. In fact they are probably one of the best weapons we have against the Islamofascists.

"Fair?" No, because it's pretty common in FR to denote sarcastic posts (like yours allegedly in #2) with the tag. Your failure to do that makes you culpable, not I.

Parker and Stone wouldn't dare try to do a show about the RELIGION OF HOLLYWEIRD!

Um, the now famous Scientology episodes are legendary! Tom Cruise in the closet ring a bell?

Chef is not dead, he was salvaged by the Scientology pedophilia club like a Darth Vader, so look for him to return. It is Isaac Hays who is gone:

Funny thing is I bet he will still get major requests when he sings to do the "Chocolate Salty Balls" song.

i think post #4 "where you been hiding? they did scientology."

i accept your offer to send all post to me via freemail for clearing.

So you're saying Parker and Stone are scientologists? I'm not surprised. I guess that's why they've never lampooned Tom Cruise.

That is a PERFECT example of talking out of your ass.....
