Former Wisconsin governor and U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson said that he'll announce his political intentions at the state Republican Convention in Appleton in May.
Thompson, in a satellite interview from Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, continues to fuel speculation that he might run for governor again or the U.S. Senate, WISC-TV reported.

Guess the Green Team's reach-out program to conservatives, especially SE Wisconsin conservatives, is having a backlash among the idiots that run the "R"PW.
Please dont run unless you will be a head banging take no prisoners, throw them back over the border, firing one out of every 3 public employee, cut EVERY government program, sane kind of conservative. We have enough Rinos. Thanks in advance.
It would be nothing less than spectacular if Tommy Thompson were to run against Herb Kohl!
Tommy has the permanent title of King RINO here in the land of cheese and beer. I wonder how many members of the Green Team will abandon Mark Green if King RINO makes a comeback, which would be highly ironic since many of those original members were bleating that since-departed-from-the-race Scott Walker was too conservative.
I'm still in mourning over Scott Walker's departure, but the idea of Tommy running for Guv again would send me right into Green's camp! One of the reasons the state is in such a financial mess is the management (or lack thereof) of TT.
It's difficult for me to think about voting for someone with a kid's name. "Tommy"...really now, someone with that name just doesn't seem serious. Almost like "Jimmy".
I could stomach TT as Senator, but not CEO of Wisconsin.

Thompson is not a RINO although he was horrible as Secretary of HHS.
Who should have ran for WI Governor was state Rep. John Gard. A conservative Republican through and through.
"...although he was horrible as Sec of HHS"
Yeah, I especially liked him passing off the anthrax attacks on that Florida guy for drinking cow turd water.
Not his greatest moment.
FOMCL
It would take alot for me to vote for him over Mark Green.
IMHO, if Tommy announces anything it will be to run against "Nobody's Senator" Herb Kohl. Kohl has been awoken from his normal state of stupor and has actually been CAMPAIGNING, already. I know! It's been an amazing thing to watch. Well, actually, his STAFFERS have been campaigning. Herb's still snoozing in a corner somewhere. *Smirk*
Tommy's not coming back down to a state level. After hob-knobbing in DC? Puh-leeze. He was a cr@ppy HHSD, but the MSM didn't crucify him, so your average schmuck will only know the good and not the bad that is Tommy.
He's just doing this to yank Governor Doyle's (D, WI) chain who he hates with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns. :)
Brett Farve is yanking our chain these days, too. Seems to be a Wisconsin-Thang. *Rolleyes*
"Tommy; The Opera." Ping.
I don't care if he's a RINO as long as he's not at the Lincoln Chafee level. A pickup in this state for the Rs would be devastating to the national Democrat party.
Don't like Gard. He has not been very conservative recently. He blocked some good legislation this year. Look at him closely, and you will find a RINO, I think.
I don't think Walker was too green to be Governor, just too poor, monetarily. He wasn't "just elected". He's in his 2nd term. And he is far more conservative than Green, who is a nice guy; but I wish that he'd stayed in DC. We need him there, and I don't trust Gard in his place.
I'm just so disappointed that Walker pulled out, and I can't forgive the RINOs of our Party who conspired to make that happen.
"I'm just so disappointed that Walker pulled out, and I can't forgive the RINOs of our Party who conspired to make that happen."
I agree. I've been mourning the loss of Walker for the past few weeks. But, Cash is King and for whatever reason, Walker took the fall for the Par-tay.
Scarey, ain't it? ;)
Even worse was his farewell speech to HHS when he said that he didn't' know why the terrorists hadn't poisoned our food supply because it would be so easy to do! Good grief!
