ATF rids Univ. of ninja threat (University of Georgia)

ATF agents are always on alert for anything suspicious — including ninjas.

Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearm agents, on campus Tuesday for Project Safe Neighborhoods training, detained a “suspicious individual” near the Georgia Center, University Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said.

Jeremiah Ransom, a sophomore from Macon, was leaving a Wesley Foundation pirate vs. ninja event when he was detained.

After being held in investigative detention, he was found to have violated no criminal laws and was not arrested.

“It was surreal,” Ransom said. “I was jogging from Wesley to Snelling when I heard someone yell ‘freeze.’”

Ransom said he thought a friend was playing a joke before he realized officers had guns drawn and pointed at him.

ATF agents had noticed Ransom’s suspicious behavior and clothing and gave chase, apprehending him, Williamson said.

“Agents noticed someone wearing a bandanna across the face and acting in a somewhat suspicious manner, peeping around the corner,” said ATF special agent in charge Vanessa McLemore.

Ransom was wearing black sweatpants and an athletic T-shirt with one red bandanna covering the bottom half of his face and another covering the top of his head, Williamson said.

“Seeing someone with something across the face, from a federal standpoint — that’s not right,” McLemore said, explaining why agents believed something to be amiss.

Agents noticed Ransom peering around a corner and said when police sirens sounded, he took off running.

After chasing Ransom and identifying themselves, ATF agents detained him, turning him over once University Police arrived, McLemore said.

Ransom said Williamson told him the incident should not have been handled in such a manner and he would file a complaint with the ATF.

“I was in shock, to say the least,” Ransom said.

I suspect the ATF thug was trying to impress the co-eds. Having been to Athens several times I can understand why.

Of course you can't really do that or you shouldn't be able to do so.

This one seems clear cut enough that the agent just might get into some real trouble.

Of course several FBI, ATF etc. agents have committed serious crimes before including murder without suffering so who knows.

I wonder if all the ATF agents will turn in their Baklava's? (?sp)

That guy in the red shirt should. He's WAY overweight.

"I hope this kid sues him for a neck injury."

Many posters on this thread seem to believe that this kid has a "sure win" suit against the BATF, or, at least, against these agents. I certainly do wish that was true. It's NOT. It's not even close.

I'd like to believe that if the kid had been very seriously injured, or killed, during this incident, that he then might have a case. But I know better. Been there; done that.

Ya'all need to adjust to reality! If you can't get used to the idea of having federal agents grinding your head into the pavement with their knees, just cause they feel like it, maybe you best move to a different country.

Hey, no argument it'll be an uphill battle--against the ATF, it always is. But a picture is worth a thousand words, and this is an awfully talkative picture right here. I would be real pissed off if I were the boss ATF guy and had to back up this SOB kneeing the kid on the neck. And I think most courts would let the issue go to the jury IF the kid has proven damages.

And then the University Police still had to book him and process him afterwords, and then take him to the city lock up while everything cleared.

Or an antiwar protester. The Feds leave them alone, even though many of the groups get foreign funding and threaten to overthrow the government.

They arrested a gun owning white person not involved in the antiwar or socialism movements. No discrimination here (in the moonbat's view)

I would like to re-iterate that the Wesley Foundation is an evangelical Christian organization. It's named after John & Charles Wesley, leaders in the Great Awakening, and the founders of Methodism.

They attacked a scrawny white *Christian* kid. No harm, no foul.

Now if he'd just come from the Nation of Islam meeting, that'd be cause for a lawsuit!

"Keelhaul him!"

Yer a navy man but did you ever think about joining the KISS Army! Forget that! My brother did in the 70s and it was terrible -- they never payed him a cent.

To further confuse the issue, you can also eat baccala which is dried, salted fish. It use to be cod when there was still lots of cod, a wonderful fish.

This was an Italian and Sicillian food mostly so people inland could have fish for meatless Fridays.

"WTF are college kids doing playing "ninja and pirate"?

Its a long standing joke on maddox.xmission.com and his friends. It's blossomed to a new realm of stupidity. Fun for funs sake.
