Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

I'm not the one who brought it up. I simply asked WKB to justify his accusations and he won't, so that's fine by me now that it's clear..

As I said yesterday, there are plenty of evo threads to discuss that topic, so I for one don't want to hijack other threads for it.

The problem is that too many FReepers refuse to look at the immigration issue in a reasonable, thoughtful manner.

Reasonable and thoughtful is difficult when the criminal aliens feel free to parade through the streets.

You're right, we need to worry about the trolls within the party who are trying to play the factions off against each other.

Jim, I will abide by your rules because I love FR, this Country, and the party. (well most in the party)

BUT we are being baited and angered by all the coverage of the Mexican flag waving, the articles that say our children are not allowed to wave the AMERICAN flag, my Dad died to preserve that flag and all it stands for.

We are baited and angered by seeing criminals getting away with lawbreaking, our borders need strict control.

It's very difficult to sit by and watch all that we have worked for and believed in be threatened by the liberal socialist. Couple that with the party you trust to make it right are leaning with the left it makes for an explosive situation.

I go on record here and now that I have never in all my rants put down our President and never would yet a new poster accuses me of the very thing I have not done which I will never just sit and be attacked in that manner and I will defend myself.

Again as I said I will abide by your rules and I appreciate the latitude afforded us who are angered by an explosive issue.

"electing" conservatives

Some republicans uphold the label and deserve 100% support (Coburn, etc). Others don't as much. Hopefully electability doesn't mean watering down conservatism to appeal to a broader spectrum of voters.

There have been a few. The ones who openly advocated such a thing have been ZOTted and told where they can go hang out. Some of them were posters that were registered long before I was.

what if the Republican was a rino and the libertarian or the constitution party person was more conservative? would you still vote for the Republican if it was a close race and the senate seat was urgently needed?

Given the conditions, I'm wondering if you can/will stay based in California for much longer. It seems that the liberal tide there keeps reaching for more and the resistance keeps shrinking. If that is why you stay - then as the Aussies say "Good on you Mate"!

I just wonder how your tax situation is and how much of our contributions are being redistributed? Anyway my contribution is on its way now!

The Communist Party USA has not run a candidate of their own over the last few presidential elections, and have instead endorsed the Democrat candidate.

In Senator Kerry's case, they even did "get out the vote" work (though you have to wonder if they made their Communist affiliation clear -- I suspect that they merely identified themselves as "progressives".)

If the Democrats were to gain either the House or the Senate, we can forget even trying to make any progress on budget items such as social security or cutting spending, and with the complicity of certain "republicans", the Democrats would try to push through more gun control. The list in the initial posting is an excellent reminder on just how far the Democrats are from normal Americans: they hold the wrong position on every item on that list.

(The most ironic of all the items is perhaps oil/energy. The Communist government of Cuba is doing what the lefties all are fighting against here: they and their partners (Venezuela, Cuba, and Canada) are developing more Gulf of Mexico oil resources.)

Then why did conservatives vote for W,he

If you have to ask that, ie, why did we vote for W rather than Kerry then you are on the wrong site.

Great list, and great reminder. I can only hope and pray that many of the malcontents will read and realize how true it is.
