I respectfully disagree with one comment "we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth", normally I would let a minor disagreement with "management" slide by without comment. But this time on this issue I can't.

Don't know who said it but "demographics IS history" is a truism. For a recent example of mass migration destroying a society see Kosovo prior to Albanian mass migration/conquest. For a better example see Roman England prior to Saxon migration/conquest, see middle east prior to Muslim migration/conquest. Want to see what happens when a society allows a large population no interested in assimilating to move in? See current day France. So, IMHO, this might very well be the "last" issue for the USA.

PS, don't know why but my $50 check to FR was returned? What's up with that?

The Pseudo Conservatives on FR who continue to bash Bush
prove they haven't read the platform of their half-wit parites.
They drank the Kool-aid and support the far left.

"Bill Clinton was in for 8 long years thanks to the Ross Perot voters."

A political old-wives tale. Exit polls indicated that Clinton would have gotten it even if Perot wasn't in the race. Don't forget also that a lot of Perot voters would have stayed home if there was no Perot. GHW Bush lost the race by running a terrible campaign (his heart wasn't in it, you could tell) and alienating his base by raising taxes--that was really a death blow.

Bush didn't support extending the assault weapons ban.

He did like he did with CFR. Told Congress they couldn't pass him a hot potato so they could look good while he gets stuck with being the bad guy for vetoing it.

He told them, "You are the lawmakers. You have to be responsible for the laws you pass." If you pass this crap, I will sign it.

Who?

I'll try. Nothing liberal is ever easy to excerpt.

Healthy People 2010 is an initiative that was stimulated by xPresident Clinton's commitment to eliminate disparities in health for racial and ethnic minority populations by 2010.

It has 28 different sections and that White House partnership link is basically an overview of those 28 different initiatives.

I don't understand how libertarian is considered 'Conservative' Pro-gay, Pro-drug legalization... that does not sound like the platform I would support.

"Conservatism cannot effectively address the nation while some part of it beseiges science itself and science education with a storm of falsehood and illogic"

Indeed. Some of the attitudes in our movement towards evolution and stem-cell research indicate an infatuation with mysticism that is almost Islamic in intensity.

"Are you planning to move to San Francisco?"

NO! I could not afford to live in San Francisco, and I certainly do not want to join the homeless population hunting a place to take a dump.

You may be right in saying that for a conservative evangelical Christian, one must denounce evolution.

It goes much deeper than that. Christians as a whole comprise a large part of the segment of the voting population that believe in pro-life issues, and morality issues such as marriage between one man and one woman for example. Evolutionism vs. Creationism is nothing more than something to debate about around the kitchen table with people who believe in one side over the other. It's a much smaller issue to tackle than say, the WOT, or the war on illegal immigration, the war on liberalism, judicial tyranny foisted upon by the left, abortion, and gay marriage, among other pressing issues that effect us all.

Truth be told though, most Christians will side with creationism over evolutionism. Creationism is a fact backed by theological evidence, evolutionism is a scientific theory.

he has never vetoed any legislation, i doubt very highly that he would veto an immigration bill.

And that's the problem. If Bush listened to the base on amnesty as well as looked at the failure of the Reagan amnesty, he should stand firm, veto pen in hand, and say "I will veto any bill that remotely resembles amnesty."

And that would change the entire dynamic in the Senate. Instead, by saying he wants his pseudo-amnesty, he allows the Dems to play games with the GOP.

Bush is not up for re-election. He should be working with the House members instead of undercutting them. Especially since their continued control of the House is critical for Bush avoiding impeachment.

"I just got the Senate survey and solicitation for money from the Republicans yesterday. I wrote my opinions on every spare empty space I could, and although I am not inclined to give them money this time around, I will anyway. There really is no choice at this time. It is either R's or D's, and we have to pick a party, and try to grab it by the short hairs and steer it back to the right."

The behavior of the US Senate (and President Bush for that matter) regarding illegal immigration shows that there are two kinds of governments in the world: The first kind, fortunately there aren't as many as there used to be, oppress their people. This is a fool's errand, and such governments fail sooner or later. The SECOND kind is smarter; this kind of government does not oppress its people, it merely IGNORES them, and largely does the bidding of elites and certain interest groups. This is what we have in the USA today--a representative republic that doesn't represent. You see it in illegal immigration policy, outsourcing, health insurance, even the war in Iraq. There is a cartoon "happy bunny" popular with young people who says insensitive things for a laugh. One of his catchphrases is "I know how you feel, I just don't care." This is the attitude of the US government (all 3 branches) and the American elite toward the population at large.

So, then there probably aren't 10 righteous people in San Francisco.

Guess there weren't 10 in New Orleans either.
