Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

This UN stuff is making me very schizophrenic on what Bush's intentions are.

I think Bush is intending to make the UN obsolete. He has been very busy building strategic partnerships around the globe that essentially form the core of a new type of organization that does the vital work the UN should be doing but without the well known problems of the UN.

He also said he would sign an extension, as I recall.

But the Republicans let it expire.

No, clinton was in office because people were duped into believing Ross Perot was a real candidate for change. Were you duped?

Some of us intend NOT to allow that number to fall below "10",

Are you planning to move to San Francisco?

Who really cares what he says, judge them by deeds not by words. Same goes for the Supreme Court Judges, people are still slamming the President over Harriet Miers, 2 Conservatives and now on the court. Why keep carping over stuff that doesn't matter?

It is an overview of Healthy People 2010 ( http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1563271/posts )

I REALLY hope you are right about the UN obsolute thing; but this stuff scares me.

Bush supported it, Congress allowed it to sunset or expire.

"Were you duped?"

Well, of course I have been duped. Have I ever voted for Perot? no, never.

I have been duped by the republicans into voting for them.

I think the point is, the GOP House seems to have entered the business of saving Bush from himself from time to time - from the AW ban to amnesty.

And the irony is, Bush is for his pseudo-amnesty, which IMO would rift the GOP and could well cause them to lose the House if amnesty was passed. Which would open Bush up to impeachment. The House, however, has stood up to amnesty. So in running counter to Bush's wishes on amnesty, the House could very well end up saving Bush's bacon as well.

And that is the problem I've had with Bush - he is quite tone-deaf to the base on core conservative issues, and leaves it to the House to enforce what is left of conservative values in the GOP. He fails to understand that we voted for him in 2004 despite his views on illegal immigration, not because of them.

I want to know so I can buy a foot of fence and encourage others to do the same. And get permission to erect it on private property at the border.

Thank You for the kind reminder. I have enjoyed the discussions and debates here for some time. I originally was a lurker and finally registered around the time Monica Lewinsky became famous. I was so disgusted with failure to convict Clinton that I took a vacation from Free Republic and politics in general. So much so I forgot my original user name and password.(lol).I wonder if that failure to uphold the law might have signaled the beginning of the lawlessness in the United States. If we don't hold our President accountable for his actions how can we hold Congress accountable?

It appears we have gone downhill since the failed impeachment, but may have reached a tipping point where Americans are moving the pendulum back towards law, order and accountability from our leaders.

I do get discouraged at times and while I may need a short vacation from FR occasionally to recharge my batteries, I feel a greater majority of Americans are now mad as heck and are not going to take it anymore. I foresee this time around our leaders will get the message or they will have a lot of free unpaid time to think about their failures.

Precisely.

I exist here to preserve America.

Not George Bush. I look forward to replacing him with someone more conservative in 2008 and yes that person will prbably be from the GOP....hopefully. We have no other real choice.

I am very very disappointed in him lately and some other GOP.

What the heck is wrong with that?

Why is that treated by some around here as blasphemy?

I busyed my arse and my wallet getting him elected twice. I have the right to CRITICIZE HIM. What is this notion we can't criticize the president over things he does that are no conservative by any measure?

We plan to get rid of RINOs asap.

at least I hope so.

The leeches are those who make up a particular voting block in the Conservative movement, who want to throw the whole movement out the window for their own rigid need to proselytize.

Conservatism cannot effectively address the nation while some part of it beseiges science itself and science education with a storm of falsehood and illogic. ID is a political movement outside all the normal peer-reviewed publication mechanisms by which science changes and grows naturally. The whole enterprise is self-discrediting, a wrong and shabby thing to attempt. This in turn is why the leftist press uses "conservative" or "Republican" as the word for such an activist, happily falling in with those from the ID side who wrap themselves in the flag and insist no one can be conservative and accept evolution.

"We are your best, your brightest, prepared to lead the way. Choose us! Vote for us! Please ignore the vandals from our gang spray-painting your house and slashing your tires."

"I want to know so I can buy a foot of fence and encourage others to do the same. And get permission to erect it on private property at the border."

I'm with you.

I bet Americans would voluntarily give enough out of their pockets to build it since our worthless, one-worlder, open-border politicians will fund everything but a secure fence.

Jim,

Thank you for this post. I am so frustrated with several so-called freepers who would give up seats to democrats.
