Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

Sir, REPUBLICANS hold a majority, not conservatives. And political parties these days are about winning, ideology. The 'Pubbies will pander to anybody who will keep 'em in power.

"I'm not against enforcing the law and don't see how that would hurt anyone's chances. "

If the republicans come down hard on immigration by advocating a crackdown on employers who hire illegals, denial of social welfare to illegals, etc. then they risk losing the majority of the current and future Hispanic vote.

IOW, if republican actions on immigration result in future republican losses at the polls, is that acceptable to you ?

At times, I get annoyed by the word 'evolutionist' that those who believe in divine creation use so easily. - needlessly inflamatory

That is NOTHING compared to the pejoratives spewed at ID believers on the crevo threads. :)

Oh no! Jimmy Carter? My dad voted for him and he still complains about his decision on that vote! LOL

Well, in my defense, I came from a family of democrats.
And, back in those days, we got all our news from Walter Cronkite and the Detroit Free Press.
Seems like the dark ages now, a time before Rush and Free Republic...

But they (evolutionists) are allowed freedom here that no one else seems to privileged too.

What is it that someone who believes in evolution is allowed to do on Free Republic that a Creationist isn't allowed to do???

Your comment makes no sense.

Do you honestly think that only those who believe the entire universe was created in 7 days are allowed to express their views here?

No conservatives nominate liberal candidates.

I doubt it. I don't see any losses caused by the law being enforced.

Who is 'us'? Us conservatives or us republicans? Obviously, 'us' conservatives do not have a majority, with the likes of Chafee Snowe Specter McCain etc etc, so you must be talking about 'us' Republicans, whose majority I'm much less interested in.

Look at the bigger picture, are you more closely aligned with the Republicans or the Democrats?

What Jim said is all fine and good, but the question now is what do we do now? I'm sure most of you have seen that paper that the Dims are passing out at these Support the Illegals rallies. They are putting together a third world voting bloc that will keep them in power for decades. If you want to see the biggest threat to conservatism then just let them get away with it.

So far the MAJORITY of Americans have organized no counter rallies of large size and the ones that have are attacked and forced off the street. While Mexican DJs organize even more of these, conservative talk radio hasn't done the same. While these guys get tens of thousands to show up, the counter rallies get a few dozen. So again, are we supposed to just sit and complain and lament how far the nation has fallen? Yes, dont let the Dims get control, but if we cant even compete with illegals for OUR governments attention, then what are we expected to do with the election in November?

You said the RINOs "help us achieve a majority". I'm asking who the 'us' is. If it's "people", then what is the alternative? Squirrels?

I think the point usmcobra is making is that the 1994 elections were a direct reaction against Clinton's policies: a repudiation of the administration, as it were.

Perot wasn't on the ballot in 1994, and Perot helped Clinton win a second term in 1996 because Perot was a spoiler candidate who divided the GOP base, and democrats can't win at the ballot box on their stance alone, and the GOP is weakened when it's base is out supporting goofy third parties.

If we lose the immigration fight and the illegals are permitted to become citizens we will lose everything.

The GOP thinks that by compromising they can curry favor with the illegals, it will never happen and the result will be disastrous almost immediately.

This issue may not be your biggest concern today but it dictates whether or not the issues you are concerned about will be within our sphere of control in the near future.

You've seen what the illegal aliens have done to California, imagine how things will be if that happens in what are presently swing states.

Any opinions here on her politics and her chances in November?

Ya know what, I have no idea, on that race. seriously. I don't know much about her or Florida politics and I haven't read to much about it either. I'm sorry maybe someone else on this thread can give their opinions of her.
