Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.
It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.
We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.
I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.
And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.
And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.
I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:
Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself
Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.
"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.
Stupid. Absolutely, mind-numbingly stupid. "Evos," as you call them, are people who have an educated and, yes, secular point of view as regards the sciences. People such as yourself, who dismiss "evos," do so for RELIGIOUS reasons.
You, and all those who share your religious perspective, are entitled to your views and opinions. Folks who hold views like yours can and do post their opinions daily on FR. It seems, however, that you do not want people with viewpoints based in science rather than religion to enjoy the same free speech rights you enjoy.
The fact that you claim -- apparently with a straight face -- that Christians are somehow discriminated against on FR is laughable. What parallel universe to you live in that you could make such a claim? If anything, the sanctimonious, exclusionary Christians of your variety overwhelmingly dominate FR.
Just in case you and your ilk don't get it, "conservative" and "Christian" are not synonymous. The former is a political adjective while the latter is a religious one. Jim's opening sentence at the top of this thread makes it clear that FreeRepublic is a conservative website. That means everyone who holds a conservative political point of view is welcome here without regard to their religious affiliation, race, ethnicity, gender, etc.
Well, it didn't take long for this thread to descend to the crevo morass.
Bill Clinton was in for 8 long years thanks to the Ross Perot voters
No, it "only" took 1,022 posts, which is the number of my post to which you responded.
As for "crevo," you'll have to excuse me. I'm not up on the lingo. However, since the fragment of my four-paragraph post you isolated and responded to was, "Stupid. Absolutely, mind-numbingly stupid," I assume you disapprove. Just in case my assumption is correct, I will draw your attention to the full context. What I was calling mind-numbingly stupid was this assertion by WKB:
My point which I admit I didn't make very well in my first post to JR is not about creation vs Evolution. It is about the "protectionism" provided by the mods to the evos on FR that no other group is allowed. Especially Christians.
So, Skooz, how would you characterize the claim that "evos" are "protected" on FR while "especially Christians" are not?
"Crevo" is shorthand for "Creation/Evolution"
So, Skooz, how would you characterize the claim that "evos" are "protected" on FR while "especially Christians" are not?
I couldn't care less. It's just a shame to see this fine forum descend to such a low level of vitriolic, ad hominem discourse.
The self-righteous are always convinced that their insults and ridicule are facts, and that their opponent's facts are insults and ridicule. How many times have we seen the world's scientists dismissed as feckless children or conniving greedy cowards? If you want to be treated politely, act politely.
Oh, really? Well, you'd be the expert on evasion, I guess, Mordo.
BTW, Jim needs to do this more often. He has a way of putting things in perspective very nicely. Vote conservative whenever and wherever the opportunity presents. I voted for a Dem. for governor of WV in the last election. He was more conservative than the Rep.
Quix, it's just astounding the amount of imfomation that has come from globalists as they have come out of the shadows.
David Rockerfeller at a press event, praised the press for having kept their agenda secret for so many years as they worked out their agenda and waited for the American citizen to become more mature, and enlightened to the benefits of their globalist agenda. That agenda being to unite the Western Hemisphere into one borderless Free Trade Zone. With tier upon tier of pontantes deciding issues of internation trade laws, their slick plans for human rights, and how to give the judicial system expanding power that one member urges to put in place to deal with desenters called xenophobes no matter if their complaint is cultural and not ract hatred, be they American's or from Chili.
That is one example. Then there is Bush's speech touting Free Trade and the open borders trade system whereby there is free movement between nations. How these people deserve to move freely to sell their goods here with no fear of being hindered or made unwelcome by useless borders.
Then there is Vicenti Fox's bold statement, after he and Bush's meeting at Crawford that Canada, the USofA, and Mexico will united under one umbrella with American wages dropping to meet Mexico's rising wages. Along with the brag that the rest of South America signing on later as they become enlightened and join also.
With computer programmers, and engineers flipping burgers in low paying jobs as their jobs are out sourced this plan to drop American wages to meet Mexico's rising wages is in full swing.
The Trans-Texas-Corridor is dead in the water for now but we have not seen the last of it by any means.
A visit to a web site that I will have to jog my memory again or check my fav places to remember it's web address. But as I pecked around the site looking for details, I came across a section that deals with how to give international law Judges more power to deal with trouble makers to their agenda, trouble makers called xenophobes, which will be a hate crime, for which they desire to make a huge punnishment, even if the person objection is to the dissolution of his borders for other reasons. It was suggested by a female member but was that implimented? Not as this time as far as I know, but it will have to be, or some form of it to deal with citizen objectors.
I spent a full year begging Freepers to go to the site and read through it's maze and it is a maze of planning. But there were no takers. There are many more expamples, but I have the flu today and am home from work and just to puny to look them all up for you. I now remember that the site, if it's still there and hasn't been hanked was the FTTA, Free Trade of the America's web site.
I hope this helps, and pray hard that those that crave truth like they need air, will avail themselves of it's disturbing information.
Thank you, Jim, for your usual perfect pitch.
Thank you Jim, The found fathers would be smiling at you for what you have created.
Yes, as was pointed out earlier, the evos, and some religious fanatics, as well as other special interest groups, DO have/take the right on this site to degrade and slander individuals, which seems quite hypocritical. Perhaps it is all allowed out of fear of reprisal, but it is taking away rights of others and should not be allowed. If I am not mistaken, that is not keeping with the spirit of this site...
So you read the abuse reports, do you? You must be a mod then! And we're all probably on double-secret probation! And all your evil-hearted posts must really be a plan to start a flame-war so that you can then stamp us all out! Ah, yes, I see it all now!
And, of course, that explains why you keep dumping on Religion Mod too - you want to take over that job too!
Gosh, what a mastermind you must be in your own mind. But you just remind me of that snake ALS, although without the actual guts to speak your mind.
I couldn't care less.
...and this one, contradict each other.
It's just a shame to see this fine forum descend to such a low level of vitriolic, ad hominem discourse.
The fact that you even bothered to respond to my first post, and to respond a second time, indicates you do care enough about the matter to expend some energy on it.
As for the forum descending to "such a low level of vitriolic, ad hominem discourse," where have you been the past couple of years?
BTW, nothing I wrote was vitriolic, nor was it ad hominem. It was not an attack on the person, but rather an accurate description of the claim that "evos" are "protected" on FR while "especially Christians" are not. That claim is indeed stupid.
You are mistaken here.
Not a bit. :-) Thanks!
Well put.
Sooooo horribly true.
Thanks.
No, I am not mistaken. You, evos, use clever by-words, and shop talk jargon. So, there...
