A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
received this in my email June 10th, the author is unknown.
I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

I have Spot and Millie under my wing at the Bridge.

Dubya gave lonestar a nickname. lonestar attended precinct meetings with the Bushes in Houston years ago when there were about 1000 Republicans in all of Houston. And we know where Crawford is--down the road from McGregor.

Don't mess with Texas; don't mess with Weinie

Weinie.

"HUH?"
See your # 300 in response to my exchanges w/ lonestar/weinie...Those exchanges on my end were light hearted I am not sure they were taken that way given a few folks responses...I tire of conveying my light hearted banter by only being able to use Smiley punctuation and LOL's. I can't answer your "HUH?" any better than via this attempt to.

Most of our mud season happened in the January thaw...come to think of it, it just continued from there, LOL! With the sunshine forecast for this week we should be pretty dried up by Easter!

One impt suggestion I would offer to you. Don't get rid of the large pictures that you really like. Keep them in an "Inspirational" file.

When I save both I put an R at the file name of the reduced pixel one. I try to rename ones I like before i do work so there is not the long numeric or code that is used on some websites.

Adding scripture or an inspirational verse, poem etc id a wonderful Holiday gift, get well gift, bereavement gift. I keep a nice selection of 5 X 7 & 8 X 10 frames available for last minute use. the smaller sized pix for Internet use do NOT print as well at the large pixels ones, obviously.

Just a thought as you do this.

an external hard drive can be had reasonable for backup/extra storage

I don't know why but I worry about that with my dog. I had that happen to a friend and her dog also. Her dog she thinks was purposely poisoned. :(

Hi Dolly!
Fortunately, I finally learned to downsize them through photoshop. It's not like I know a lot about photoshop, LOL, but I finally figured out some basics like cropping focus etc. I just have to remind myself to check the image size before I post. Sometimes I forget to do that. :)

I'll never get to the point that you are at with the collages etc. You create such beautiful images.

I hope you are doing very well. :)

It was Lonestar who lost "our favorite candidate", Weinie...We have had a neighbor lose a dog and a cat ..and we believe it was intentional poisoning..
After two of our cats disappeared and after what happened to the neighbor pets....we have indoor cats.

I had lost my beloved "buddy" kitty not long before Weinie was poisoned,to cancer..and my daughter's beloved dog died with cancer afterwards..I know about the grief. I always swear I will never get " that"attached again..but the ""bad boy" TRubble,a year old ,started snoozing in the same chair right by my desk that my "buddy",Purty, used to snooze in..and here I go again..

Weinie Rules! :)

How is construction going near you and did you all ever get the damage to your roof repaired? Is your town looking better yet?

It is soooo heart breaking. I lost 2 dogs when I was younger. I almost didn't get a dog because of that grieving.

Trubble is your sweetie. :)
My dog is now with me almost all the time. I can't imagine life without her.
