The AAP has picked this issue as another political, all-pain-is-trauma, reason-to-medicate boys, granola-lifestyle Nazi, crock-O-sh-t call for more funding, studies, and regulatory power.... An excuse to hold seminars and get noticed by the few doctors who live and breath their narrow line of work.

Why don't the Muslims circumcise babies according to the biblical directions (on the eighth day after birth)? Is it because Ishmael was circumcised when he was 13?

I am sure if you research the facts. The most cases of aids reported are from men that have not been circumcised.
Which probably explains the origin of the practice. Often a religious practice has a basis in the health of the individual and the community. Which explains prohibitions against eating pork, unbled animals, prostitution, bestiality, incest, homosexuality, etc. The ancient Hebrews had a lot more wisdom than we give them credit for. These prohibitions and prescriptions were not enacted because they had "hang ups", they were enacted because the nations which openly practiced these things had to contend with venerial disease and birth defects.
Circumcision is better. Trust me. BIG TIME!
No offense to those who aren't circumsized, but frankly, I think it's nasty looking.
We circumsized our kid, and I'm glad we did.
