I oppose laws made to force anyone to do business with insurance companies.

So many say the JOOOOOOOOSSSSSS or the RICH NECONS or OIL BARRONS or the billionaire lefty looney tunes control this nation.

In truth,as I see it, the most powerful lobby by far in this nation is that of the insurance industry. They have their tenticles in every part of life private and otherwise.

I think it is time to tell the insurance industry to piss off!

Louisiana requires people to have car insurance (if they own a car that is). You can look at this two ways- Bad for private business but good for taxpayer/ insured people who end up paying higher premiums and taxes(medicaid, etc) because of the uninsured. Uninsured still get sick, injured, etc, its just that somebody else has to pay.

Another gift to corporations. The level of statism in this country amazes me on a daily basis.

The absurdity of these northeastern states gets more and more amazing every day.

Mandatory health insurance is basically another tax on the entire population. There are plenty of people who may not need health insurance for any number of reasons. Maybe they keep themselves healthy. Maybe they prefer to take the gamble and pay for catastrophic disasters only if one such thing happened. Maybe they just think insurance is a scam to begin with.

This is just as bad as northeastern states and how they require driver's insurance for every eligible driver. Whether you drive once or drive every day, you MUST have insurance. In fact, I think in New Jersey you need insurance even if you have a license and no car.

This kind of policy reeks of pandering to insurance companies, and does nothing more than place a tax upon everyone.

I dont think they will see many new small businesses opening very soon and I would guess this will drive a few out of business.

I don't know the details of the Mass plan, but this, like car insurance, could avoid a single payer system--the kind Kennedy and the far left are demanding.

I don't see how mandating private insurance would autmatically raise government taxes.

Switzerland--about the most privitized (and prosperous...a coincidence?) country in Europe mandates private health insurance--similar to the way most states do with car insurance, and it seems to work well for them--a LOT better than the socialist centralized health systems in the rest of Europe.

These are the rabble that cause pure democracies to eventually fall.

What next, outlaw unhapiness?

How about we outlaw bad thoughts?

These politicians want to make all business big business because they get better contributions from big business. They can force big business to do stuff via tax games.

This is definitly anti-small business. (and sooooo french)

The measure does not call for new taxes but would require businesses that do not offer insurance to pay a $295 annual fee per employee.

Can we properly call this socialized medicine ?

Massachusetts Lawmakers just sounded the death knell for independent free-enterprise business in that state. Watch for mass company migration from that state. If they weren't already taxing their citizens to death, they've confined them to death through unemployment...

OK so the plan says that small business's that don't currently provide coverage must buy coverage for $295 bucks per YEAR.

I own a small business that DOES provide health coverage. Our minimal plan costs us $268 bucks per MONTH for a single person, $786 per MONTH for a married couple, and a whopping $977 per MONTH for a family (Husband, wife, and at least one kid).

$295 bucks won't pay for even a single blood workup for a physical exam.

Who are these people kidding? It would appear that the US Taxpayer, through "federal subsidies" will foot the extra 240 bucks per month for a single person.

Granted health insurance coverage is expensive, and health costs in general keep rising, but if their annual premium amount is correct these people who buy the coverage will THINK they have adequate coverage, but when they fall a break their arm, their house will end up with a lien on it!

Liberty is always lost for "good" reasons. Most people could care less. Most people apparently welcome control by others. They welcome all the "free" services and benefits. Most people like it when others are forced to do good (rarely do they consider that the laws apply to them as well and by then it is too late). We march inexorably toward a totalitarian bureaucracy created solely to "do good".
