"In Canada damaging a Tim Hortons is high treason."

Too true. Tim Hortons even opened a shop in Afghanistan for the Canadian soldiers.

If someone wants to be a suicide bomber, then he/she could find some nice open space somewhere where they could blow themelves to bits without endangering anyone else. You blow yourself up in an area with other people around it, you're trying to commit homicide, and not just your own but others as well.

I think homicide bomber is a far more fitting description.

LOL, a private grievance explosive in a public place, that is a good one!

Of course the Islamic cults have made this form of murder/suicide more acceptable and en vogue.

I expect to see more of these "grievance" plays, they do garner MSM sympathy.

The "why do they hate us", and "what was their grievance", is the mantra. And its good blackmail.

Of course, the KKK were never asked "why", fortunately. They were roundly condemned by the opinion makers of the day.

I gotta tell you, if you have ever had a Chocolate Chip muffin from Timmies, you would understand the high status the place holds in the hearts of Canadians. And the coffee isn't $5 a cup!

I think homicide bomber is a far more fitting description.

You can think so, but you're wrong. Someone who puts a bomb in a car is a homicide bomber. Someone who puts a bomb in his shoe is a homicide bomber. Anyone who bombs anyone is a homicide bomber. It's redundant. You might as well just say bomber. We know they are homicidal by the simple fact that they didn't set off their bomb in a secluded open space. They set their bomb off in a crowded public place, hence, the homicidal aspect is obvious to all. What is not obvious, without description, is the means or method used. Did they leave a napsack in the bathroom? Did they have a remote controlled bomb? Was it on a timer? Saying homicide bomber tells you none of that. But say "suicide bomber," and right away we know it was a fanatic with bombs strapped to his person, who blew himself up in a suicide attack. I guess we should have called kamakazi pilots "homicide pilots." It's completely retarded, based totally on emotion.

I'd probably agree if we hadn't romanticized suicide so much in our society. The term sounds like someone JUST blew themselves up.

Duhs aside, it's no more reatrded than such terms as "public servant" or "blue collar worker". Neither of those is always accurate, but we know what they mean. Same goes for either term here.

Suppose maybe he was planting the device and it went off prematurely?

Probably came in with it unarmed and went to do the necessary connections before going back among the customers.

The default expectation when there is a bombing is that it is meant to kill other people. Any bombing could be a homicide bombing. Thus, the word homicide is not necessary. However, "suicide" is a useful adjective because it conveys how the bombing was done.

The location of Tim Horton's is just a short distance
(a few yards)
from the entrance to the largest subway station in Toronto.
