WASHINGTON - A slim majority of Americans are open to allowing undocumented workers to obtain some sort of temporary legal status to remain in the United States, with stronger support for the idea among Democrats, younger adults and more educated Americans, a new poll finds.
Overall, 56 percent of Americans favor offering illegal immigrants a shot at some kind of legal status; roughly two-thirds of those ages 18-34 like the idea and an equal share of those with a college education agree, the AP-Ipsos survey found.

No doubt this bogus AP poll was taken from interviews with msm journalists, Democrat voter registrars, and people who live in gated communities in $500,000+ homes. The rest of us know better.

Exactly. Does anybody believe that any of those illegals protesting in Los Angeles and Phoenix will be voting Republican when they get citizenship? (Hint: lawbreakers don't tend to vote Republican if given the chance.)
The GOP will have no chance in Florida, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico after this is all done. There will be millions of newly-legalized Democrat voters. Beyond that, conservative Republicans will be so angry about amnesty that they'll be voting third party or staying home.

I just love how the AP tries to make it seems like if you're against amnesty you're old, uneducated and conservative, heck the AP went out of their way to do it. The other polls I've seen tell me this one is complete garbage.
It really doesn't matter either way because "the governing class" - of both parties - doesn't give a tin damn what the people want. Bush won a second term and now it's "Screw You" as far as the Republicans are concerned. A bitter lesson for me, but they'll never get my vote again.
Did they take this survey on the streets of protesting mexicans?
