What Can We Do About the Invasion of Our Country by Illegal Aliens?
Self | April 2, 2006 | Supernatural

Posted on 04/02/2006 5:03:54 AM PDT by Supernatural

This thread is meant to be a discussion on what we, the citizens of the United States, can do to make our politicians aware that we are fed up with the invasion of our country by illegal aliens. How can we fight back? What are our options? Which options have the best chance of working?

We have a chance to put some pressure on our elected representatives because this is an election year. The only real weapon we have to use against our representatives is our vote.

There has been some discussion as to what we might be able to do on several other threads. Some ideas suggested were:

A national rally and march to be held at some future date in Washington, D.C. that should be done before our legislators pass any new bill concerning the illegal aliens.

A campaign to send postcards informing our representatives on our feelings about the illegal aliens.

Make telephone calls to our representatives' offices.

Some other options:

Rallys and marches in several main locations around the country on the same day, such as in Washington, D.C., a city in Texas and a city in California.

Rallys and marches in many cities around the country on the same day.

A petition campaign where volunteers gather signatures of registered voters and forward the petitions to our representatives.

In addition to what I have here, FReepers are encouraged to add their own ideas or to pick the plan that they think will work the best. Discuss the advantages and drawbacks of any plan.

I think the rally and march ideas will be the hardest plan to execute. Permits will be required which would not be that much of a problem. Enlisting guest speakers, getting P.A. equipment together, paying for sanitation facilities (portapotties), paying for cleanup and paying for insurance and security make this the most difficult option. Travel and lodging make this option somewhat time consuming and expensive. There is also the possibility of violence being instigated by the other side.

I favor a petition campain. Here is why and here is how I think we could work it.

Many on FR would be willing to send in a postcard. But if friends, acquantinces and co-workers are approached about sending their representative a postcard many simply would not bother to do it. Too much work for them.

It would be much easier to get them to sign their names and addresses on a petition. It is something that they could do immediately.

If each interested person on FR could print up a petition and get 20 signatures on it and send it in that could mean a lot of signatures.

If each interested person on FR could get 20 signatures on a petition and pass out other petitions to his friends and other interested people to get 20 signatures on, that would be a lot more signatures. The FReeper could collect all the petitions from his friends and others and send them all in at once.

We need some ideas on how the petition should be worded. Most of us have printers and we can print our own petitions.

In addition to the petition, FReepers could be encouraged to call and to write their representatives. Let them know that we mean business.

Please discuss any ideas you have on this thread. What do you think is the best idea or combination of ideas? Do you have any ideas to add?

We need to generate an offense, so let's roll!

Postcards CAN be very effective, if done right. If they are printed with a succinct message on the face, you could pre-address them to your congresscritters. The same party who would sign a petition, would most likely put his name and address on the card.

Email is great, but it is too easy to filter. In this age of auto-response, you would never get the message to them. But, if a cart full of postcards were delivered each day, it would have two effects.

Firstly, the volume could become overwhelming. The cost of a postcard isn't that much, and if each interested party could enlist the assistance of a few others, a lot of cards could be sent. It currently costs $ .24 to send a postcard, so you could send a hundred for $24. It would be difficult to ignore the volume of paper.

It should be easy to get a couple hundred cards filled out, by going to the local watering holes, or shopping centers, and setting up a table. Put a jar on the table to solicit money for printing cartridges (buy card kits at WalMart to piss off a few more folks) and stamps, but plan on sending them out on your dime.

Secondly, it would irritate the hell out of all the "greenies", to think of all those poor trees... but the paper companies will love us!

I also think postcards are a good idea if you buy them yourself and have them ready to simply sign and send in.

How can the unions justify supporting those who are perpetuating low-wage non-union workers to be in this country driving down wages?

The union thugs are definitely interested in making it OK for the illegals to stay. They are not concerned about the union members they already force to join, They need more duesincome to keep their towncars running...

Unions came to play due to poor working conditions, and it was good. But now, they are not interested in anything but themselves!

My wife some years ago lost a job at a mail order garden center to illegal immigrants, my son also lost his first job in landscaping to illegal immigrants, the pay was bad but he loved that job. Two weeks ago I was told to train my Mexican replacement, I'm in automotive engineering, yeah there's a job Americans don't want either I guess.

A few years back was planning on sending the boy to the state university but they upped their tuition by 30%, negating those dreams. But the very next year the same state university announced free tuition programs for illegal immigrants.

We can not be complacent, contacting our representatives is paramount, so is encouraging others to do the same. If we don't, then it is inevitable the government will bend to the will of the illegals and our mainstream press.

I truly believe the liberal press still has tremendous influence in our government, voicing displeasure to them is equally as important, though our influence is much smaller.

Sounds good to me.

Have a Citizens trial of those who would sell our borders out...stream the trial on the internet as we all know the MSM will ignore it.
The people's will has been ignored much too long..the selective enforcement of the law has been ignored much too long..the actions in the senate and executive branch seem to be treason..A legal decision from 12 citizens will send a message to the American public to the what seems like treason and what should lead to impeachment of the whole government.

Postcards CAN be very effective, if done right.

White postcards with a matte finish can be purchased cheaply in a box of 200 at Office Depot (Item # 915-895) and probably Staples too. The work great with both inkjet and laserjet printers.

Suggest using that "Gringo Peso" image that one of the FReepers designed as the front of the card with a handwritten note to your congress critters on the back.

Yeah I really beleive you. She lost her job to an illegal at a mail order center. Yeah right. And illegals aren't the ones taking or losing jobs it's the labor unions themselves.

OH BTW you do know 7,500 GM workers are getting paid to watch soap operas all day don't you.

AS General Motors tries to reduce its payroll by 30,000 jobs, the New York Times has pointed out that GM still pays as many as 7,500 workers to do nothing. This is part of a Jobs Bank experiment gone mad. In 1984, the United Auto Workers and management created the Jobs Bank as a way of keeping workers on the payroll while the company automated its production. "The argument went that if the auto companies had a pool of idled workers, they would be less likely to outsource labor overseas," wrote Jeremy Peters of the New York Times. What was supposed to be a billion-dollar program was supposed to end in 1990. A generation later, it continues. It costs GM about $9.4 million a week to pay the salaries of people in the Jobs Bank, and that does not include their health care and pension benefits. Now the bank threatens to undermine the buyouts of up to $140,000 each that GM is offering its workers. Peters visited Oklahoma City, where 2,300 employees remain on the payroll a month after GM shut down their plant. They receive full pay and benefits even though there is nothing for them to do except sit around and chat, play games, or watch TV. Garland Pruitt, 53, with 27 years of seniority, told Peters: "Why would I walk out the door with $2,000 less per month and have to go find a job when I can sit in the bank, get my 30 years and retire? It's really to my advantage to ride the bank out as long as it goes."

OH BTW, there are thousands of landscaping jobs out there. Why doesn't your son start his own business and be his own boss.

FREE REPUBLIC really really needs to dedicate part of its website to be politically active on this. Sporadic threads won't cut it. A major link to "NUMBERSUSA" would be a great start.

For starters, we can hang our American flags on our houses again like we did after 9/11.

From the mexican constitution ....

Article 11. Everyone has the right to enter and leave the Republic, to travel through its territory and to change his residence without necessity of a letter of security, passport, safe-conduct or any other similar requirement. The exercise of this right shall be subordinated to the powers of the judiciary, in cases of civil or criminal liability, and to those of the administrative authorities insofar as concerns the limitations imposed by the laws regarding emigration, immigration and public health of the country, or in regard to undesirable aliens resident in the country.

I did the same with Frist and Alexander (I'm in Tennessee). All I expect is a polite "screw you" form letter.

I've written and called offices of congresscritters and the president. The fact is, they don't care a crap about what the people in this country want. And they don't seem to think there is a real threat of being abandoned on voting day. Too bad for them and too bad for this country--many will be voting third parties this tome around.

If we close the borders and restrict illegals it will be devastating to the economy. Think Agriculture, Construction, Hotel and Motel and Restaurants. Get real folks. And BTW I AM a conservative.

Honestly, our only recourse at this point is to give our "representatives" an ultimatum: either do something about this mess in the remaining six months before the election, or those of us who pounded signs, contributed time and money to campaigns, and voted faithfully will STAY HOME ON ELECTION DAY!

Could staying home throw the election to the RATS? Probably. But I am sink and tired of putting this clowns into office election cycle after election cycle and then being told to shut up about the border.

If the GOP loses in November, the GOP will have only itself to blame, and everything that happens after that will be on THEIR heads, not the heads of the loyal voters.

They'll care in January when the GOP loses both Houses of Congress, and the RATs begin drafting articles of impeachment against Bush.
