This thread is meant to be a discussion on what we, the citizens of the United States, can do to make our politicians aware that we are fed up with the invasion of our country by illegal aliens. How can we fight back? What are our options? Which options have the best chance of working?
We have a chance to put some pressure on our elected representatives because this is an election year. The only real weapon we have to use against our representatives is our vote.
There has been some discussion as to what we might be able to do on several other threads. Some ideas suggested were:
A national rally and march to be held at some future date in Washington, D.C. that should be done before our legislators pass any new bill concerning the illegal aliens.
A campaign to send postcards informing our representatives on our feelings about the illegal aliens.
Make telephone calls to our representatives' offices.
Some other options:
Rallys and marches in several main locations around the country on the same day, such as in Washington, D.C., a city in Texas and a city in California.
Rallys and marches in many cities around the country on the same day.
A petition campaign where volunteers gather signatures of registered voters and forward the petitions to our representatives.
In addition to what I have here, FReepers are encouraged to add their own ideas or to pick the plan that they think will work the best. Discuss the advantages and drawbacks of any plan.
I think the rally and march ideas will be the hardest plan to execute. Permits will be required which would not be that much of a problem. Enlisting guest speakers, getting P.A. equipment together, paying for sanitation facilities (portapotties), paying for cleanup and paying for insurance and security make this the most difficult option. Travel and lodging make this option somewhat time consuming and expensive. There is also the possibility of violence being instigated by the other side.
I favor a petition campain. Here is why and here is how I think we could work it.
Many on FR would be willing to send in a postcard. But if friends, acquantinces and co-workers are approached about sending their representative a postcard many simply would not bother to do it. Too much work for them.
It would be much easier to get them to sign their names and addresses on a petition. It is something that they could do immediately.
If each interested person on FR could print up a petition and get 20 signatures on it and send it in that could mean a lot of signatures.
If each interested person on FR could get 20 signatures on a petition and pass out other petitions to his friends and other interested people to get 20 signatures on, that would be a lot more signatures. The FReeper could collect all the petitions from his friends and others and send them all in at once.
We need some ideas on how the petition should be worded. Most of us have printers and we can print our own petitions.
In addition to the petition, FReepers could be encouraged to call and to write their representatives. Let them know that we mean business.
Please discuss any ideas you have on this thread. What do you think is the best idea or combination of ideas? Do you have any ideas to add?
We need to generate an offense, so let's roll!
She was elected governor, not dictator.
I see she is starting to get with the program, as this is an election year. She is starting to feel the heat.
No, you said taxes.
And I'm sure you read what I said. Hard to withhold when they take it right out of your pay, or at the cash register when you buy something.
Don't be ridiculous.
I favor a petition campaign.
Petitions are a PITA.
Many on FR would be willing to send in a postcard.
Oooh, that'll get them to take notice!
You make a good point.
The left want the illegals here and makes excuses for them.
Connect the dots. The left wants the illegals here. Our government wants the illegals here.
Is all of our government left-wing, while some in the government pretend to be otherwise?
And your best solution is?
"If we close the borders and restrict illegals it will be devastating to the economy. Think Agriculture, Construction, Hotel and Motel and Restaurants. "
And you are dead wrong!
Indeed. I see civil conflict in the nation's future. Perhaps outright civil war.
We see a growing "separation" between the "blue side" (not so much as "states", but as a "side" representing one point of view) and the "red side". Increasingly, no compromise is possible, no common ground achievable - again, because the two sides are so morally, culturally, and economically opposed to one another.
And the politicians of both parties are fiddling while the nation smoulders and gets ready to burn. They are clueless. And this goes right up to the top _Republicans_, who either can't see, or won't see what's coming down the pike.
I've reached the point where I'll be as happy to see the Bush admistration go as the previous one.
Looking at our own borders, at our own invasion, one cannot help but wonder how much "safer" and how much more "secure" we _really_ are in the years subsequent to 2001.
I'm conservative, I'm not a troll - and I mean it.

You are not alone in your thoughts.
This situation will not be resolved peacefully.
One side is looking as bad as the other side.
If both sides mean to sell us out, where does that leave us?
To our own devices! Those who depend on the government for anything are fools.
There are tens of hundreds of cities, townships, counties that have hundreds of thousands of businesses..that collect taxes. Not to mention the very governments of those towns that also collect taxes.....They all in turn send portions of those monies to their states, and to the Fed's.
It wouldn't take too many cities across the nation to enact this measure...for politicians to take notice.
I hope that's clearer........
Again, I said nothing/nada/zilche,nyet about personal income taxes. Although I think that also could be worked out....when millions of Americans that owe money just tell the Feds...sorry we aren't paying until July 15th in protest. What are you going to do about it!!!! ????
All probably pipe dreams....anyway.
FRegards,
Tell me what you think if this idea.
With a large sharpie pen, we should draw a DOTTED
LINE ACROSS our NECK and around our WRIST...
1. To symbolize to our legilators that they are cutting off
their voter base if they do not stop the invasion of illegals.
2. (your idea here) ________________________________________________

Good thoughts. The government lives on tax money. It keeps on finding more and more ways to ding us for money.
Let them feel the pinch and see what happens.
I'm just afraid you won't get enough people to cooperate. The ones who do would be made an example of by the government.
War protestors tried that tactic during the Vietnam war and were jailed.
But if everyone did it, the gov would be screwed.
Jo, you have some really good ideas.
I'm real ashamed that we can't out-organize a bunch of mostly illiterate illegal aliens.
They believe in their cause, obviously more than most of the citizens of this country believe in their own cause.
We are fragmented by our perceived success. Only when the bubble bursts for everyone will everyone want to take action. By then it will be far too late.

There are far more problems than mexicans. People fly in and disappear. Terrorists are coming in from the north. There will be mass voter fraud in 2006 and 2008 and beyond.
People shouldn't whine if they are n't willing to do something about it.
[... no difference between being defenseless and being more concerned about winning a popularity...]
I'm close, but still not sure what you are trying to say.
Please elaborate.

Congratulations and welcome.
My daughter-in-law is also a legal immigrant.
Seems to me that our government is playing everyone for fools and patsies.
