A man pleaded guilty Friday to molesting his girlfriend's children after she set up a hidden camera to catch him in the act.
Hernandez Cruz pleaded guilty to rape and gross sexual imposition involving his girlfriend's daughters, NBC 4's David Wayne reported.
"It's one thing to hear a child tell you something happened. It's a different thing to see it unfold in front of your eyes," said Detective Brian Sheline, of Columbus police.
Cruz's girlfriend caught the crimes on tape by using a hidden camera, but experts typically oppose hidden video, saying it puts children in danger.
"Families sometimes have to come up with ways to get the abuse documented. Would I advocate that families go out and buy video recorders? Absolutely not," said Shari Uncapher, child advocacy clinical manager.
The victims' mother said she had no choice.
"He hurt my entire family, not just my girls," she said through an interpreter. "She thinks that because she's Mexican, should wouldn't be believed and needed evidence to go forward."
Cruz faced up to 15 years in prison. The judge sentenced him to four years on each charge, to be served at the same time.
"I wish the judge would have done consecutive sentences. We have two victims with multiple acts over a period of time," said Bill Creedon, assistant prosecutor.
Cruz was in the United States illegally from Mexico. He will be deported once he is released.

All should be deported, the rapist after his sentence.
This is a crime that should not have happened. Another U.S. child has been molested because our open border policies made it possible. Our Executive and Legislative branches of government are impotent on this issue by choice.
It does not matter to them that there is an open season on our citizens, adults and defenseless children.

Correction, it appears the children may have been illegal as well. That doesn't make the crimes okay. It means that this male was in the nation and more than likely spreading his joy to more than these kids.

She shouldn't have put the kids in danger again just to trap him. She should have plotted and planned to just kill him. Maybe take him to the border, kill him and dump him over the other side.

Good for you. I should also make it clear that I do not want crime perpetrated against illegal alien children any more than I want it perpetrated against U.S. Citizen children.
The movements of people from Mexican towns across the border and across our nation, create destabalized home settings and open up the illegal alien to crime. That is not a situation to be desired for them.
It creates vulnerabilities like this, abuse against women and abuse in the workplace.
This situation exposes both U.S. Citizen and illegal alien to unacceptable unsafe situations.

I like to give Senior Cruz something to remember his crimes by. Something in .45 caliber would probably be appropriate. He can even keep the slug in memory of his vanished cajones and other "part".
So does this mean he will serve 2 years with good behavior?
