Just got home from work, and was listening to Joe Crummy on KFYI interview one of the dads of the kids that burned the Mexican flag:
Apparently, his kid was arrested by AJ Police and was held in detention in Florence all day yesterday. CHarged with Arson. It took all of their savings to get a retainer for an atty.
It gets better. The family is now getting death threats. They were informed by police that there are those trying to find out where the family lives, and are going after them. AJ police stated to the father, there is nothing they can do about it, until someone actually shows up on their property.
Also, there was another kid from the school (Rod, who said he was a "future" Marine) read that letter from the school, forbiding any kid to wear any article of clothing resembling or representing a flag, no matter what country it represents.
He said emphatically, that he *will* wear the US Flag to school Monday.
Apparently this flag burning was near the ROTC table.
My respect for the kids in AJ have grown a hundred fold!

i dont get it. I looked over his posts in your link on post 194 and dont see anything suspension worthy. Did you hear of any reason why travis mcgee was suspended ?
Im sorry, but I am just flaming pissed at this...
'Night, SA. Sweeet dreeeeams.....
As you should be.
Much later in the thread we find out that the cops are probably not pressing charges, and are not going to hold the kid.
PICO RIVERA - A student protest that resulted in a Mexican flag being flown on top of an upside-down U.S. flag at a local school has prompted disciplinary action against one El Rancho High School student.
El Rancho Unified School District officials said the unnamed student was punished for being involved in the flag incident, which took place Monday at Montebello High School, about four miles east of El Rancho High School.
The punishment was consistent with the California Education Code, officials said. They did not give further details because of legal and privacy issues.
But Montebello Unified School District administrators said they were glad the neighboring district investigated the incident and took the proper action.
"We appreciate the diligence that \ district has taken in identifying the student who allegedly committed the infraction with the flagpole incident," said Assistant Superintendent Robert G. Henke.
Yes we are.
Please, what is the address that I can send money to this kid, for whatever he needs it for. I commend his actions. He is a person of high character.
Whom are you quoting?
Is this referring to the student or students who raised the Mexican flag, or the one who burned it?
Different but similar story. This is the flag incident at a California school that got folks' blood boiling at the beginning of the week.
Thanks.
Just one more reason to build the southern border wall...
What about his right to free speech?
You can crap on the American flag and the left would love you....
Yes, thanks, HiJinx.
This is the followup on the "incident" that led to the now-infamous image of desecrated flags.
I didn't want to start a new topic, just injected a little news bulletin about the perp.
BUT, since the flag owner commited treason, does this really matter?
I was on a jury in an arson case in Az and I seem to remember that to establish the crime of arson there must be an immediate threat to the occupants.
In the case I heard two cockroaches in prison set fire to their prison cell to try to cause as much damage as possible but since the cell was constructed of cinderblock and stainless steel the DA couldnt make the arson stick because no matter what the cockroaches intentions there was no credible threat to other occupants of the structure.
Just my 2cents
PS who wants to start a legal defense fund for that brave patriot in AJ? He is gonna feel so much heat he could join the marines and voulnteer for Iraq so that won't be as many people shooting at him.
Stumpy
Gee,why didn`t I know that?
un-friggin real...
This country is falling down the crap hole faster than even my cynic mind thought possible...
I hate to say this...and yet I actully don't...
We have already lost this fight and America as we know it is lost forever...
The mere fact a story like this could be posted on FR and some people go into the subtle nuance and law of what Arson is astounding...
The mere lack of overt and overwhelming outrage towards this charge tells me everything I need to know as to where we are headed...
We are headed down a Tijuana craphole...a third world sewage ditch...brought to you by the vermin in Washington...
Enjoy the bitter sunset on this union...you are party to the second fall of Rome...
" The crime of maliciously, voluntarily, and willfully setting fire to the building, buildings, or other property of another person or of burning one's own property for an improper purpose, as to collect insurance."
You are wrong when it comes to burning flags... It doesn't matter what state or local law says about burning/arson. Under federal law, the proper way to dispose of a flag is to burn it. Federal law trumps state law...
