I don't deal with this issue on a local level. Although in my state there are some in the larger cities. Here we have a lot of farm land, and we do have a lot of guest workers who come for the summer, but they are not Mex. They usually come from Jamaica, and are here for the harvest, then they go home. The farms that employ them, provide housing, and they are very polite, courteous, and hard working. That is totally different from sneaking in and demanding rights to schooling, housing and medical care when you don't pay for it, break our laws, and have no intention of leaving.

The farms in the area have had a very difficult time finding help for harvest time, but the way they do it, I have no problem with. It does however, say a lot about the youth of today, who won't do the work.

You know what, I'm sick and tired of hearing how bad the illegal alien will have it. Do you remember the 1980s? I don't remember any family farms saved because it "wasn't nice" to throw people off their farms for not paying taxes or defaulting on their payments. Did any of those family farms get saved by someone shouting "Does Nigeria ring a bell?" Sounds rather silly in that light doesn't it. Yes, great cognitive thinking...

Look, when folks break laws they bear the burdern of paying for what they have done. I don't. You don't. Our nation doesn't. If people want to be free from penalties, they need to live within the law. If they choose not to, then they will have to deal with the consequences. And no I don't feel one bit sorry for them. They made their bed.

Seal the borders? Yep, that worked very nicely in 1986 didn't it. That is precisely what was promised. Now you want the nation to sucker for it once again. I'll be damned if I will. No way!

I'm swinging wildly because I demand people be sent back to the nation of their origion for jumping in line ahead of millions of others who ARE playing by the rules? No, I'm not buying that one.

Let's see if your little truism holds sway in other instances. "The ill deeds of the past does not justify the ill deeds of the present or future." Okay, how did that truism work with your kids when they didn't do what you told them to. Did you just allow them to do what they wanted no matter what, without punishment? That's what you truism directs.

I subscribe to the idea that the federal government provide an internet site where employers can verify social security numbers. If a prospective employee provides a number that is in use in another town under another name, he would be rejected for employment until that could be resolved. If his number was not valid, he would be rejected for employment. If the number came up for a dead person, he would be rejected for employment. Employers found to be employing an illegal immigrant would be closed down for thirty days. On the second offense it would increase to six months. If it happened a third time their businesses would be closed. End of story.

Stopping the underground economy in unlawful employment would send people packing for points south. We would not have to deport. They would self-deport. Homes would be liquidated or lost. Children would tag right along with mom and pop. They did when mom and pop were being kicked off the family farm and the horrors of that thought were completely acceptable when it was a U.S. Citizen.

You and I may or may not agree on this topic. From wha I've read so far, I'm not convinced.

I would say to the border they invaded or the country they got the visa from. There should be no obligation to give air fare to Aruba. The family is the family and could all go together. There is no garuantee for citizenship by birth to illegals. It has just been done with impunity and makes an "anchor" child possible. There should be preference for citizenship but no garuantee IMHO.

Illegal is Illegal.. Come, in line, through the Immigation system to be treated "fairly". All are welcome.

We are a Nation of Laws and those that Write/Enforce them ignore them, pick and choose which they will enforce and which ones they will ignore how else do you explain the "Catch and Release" method that the Border Patrol has been saddled with for years? (It's like Clinton meddling in MY Military with his Don't ask Don't Tell, the #1 the very first line in any Military Evaluation, the most Important is Truthfulness and Bill Clinton sullied every Service Member with his Don't Ask Don't Tell because he made telling the Truth OPTIONAL)

Can't help but to Agree and Disagree with you on this one, sorry but we have NO OTHER OPTION if we are to remain a Sovereign Nation, we didn't seal our Borders in 1986 but we don't have a choice now, we have to and we have to get MSM and the Dems to agree with us somehow, it must happen. I truly think securing our Borders and those that fight against it is what will start our next Civil War, it won't be Racism or "I Hate Bush" or Health care etc etc, the Borders define us on a Map and define us as a Soverign Nation and it is the number one job of those that we Elect.

I am an Employer, it is not my job to verify Citizenship anymore than it is my job to give you a speeding ticket, that being said other than day work it is dang near impossible to hire anyone without a SSN, your idea about a clearing house would work great as long as the Government is not involved, they screwup just about everything that they touch, you would need to have the latitude if the number comes up as duplicate or whatever, (it is a double edge sword), what would really be nice is take all of the Seat Belt Police and give them a real job, when an Employer does get a hit (duplicate SSN) the Seat belt Vampires can change jobs and become the Identity Thief Police and finally be something other than City Hall Tax Collectors (and pains in the ass), so I agree with your proposal on the research and ID of SSN, but not BY the Employers but by those that swear to Protect and Serve (not to collect the nanny cop seat belt tax)

I propose the FAIRTAX would stop the underground economy, the Prebate will encourage Illegals to Register and by God I want to get rid of the F'n IRS no matter what.
