The Root Cause (Illegal Immigration's Apologists Depantsed)
my own thoughts ^ | 03/31/2006 | DoughtyOne

Posted on 03/31/2006 4:42:39 PM PST by DoughtyOne

Illegal immigration is recognized by many U.S. Citizens to be a threat to our nation. It's is a balkanizing process. It disrupts communities. It places financial strain on regions of our nation. It costs our nation tens of billions of dollars a year, if not hundreds. It is destroying our health care system. It disrupts the education system financially and in the teaching process due to language problems. It can place English speaking children at a disadvantage, in that spanish children receive elevated resources while English speaking kids take a back seat in the early years. There are problems of serious crime, multiple identities and recidivism.

These are serious issues, but let's ignore them. Remember, the apologists for illegal immigrants do it all the time. For once lets join them. (temporarily)

Right now lets spend a few moments exploring the number one rationalization for allowing the United States to be invaded and over-run by another nation's populace.

And what is that rationalization? Well of course, it's the "fact" that Mexicans only want a chance to earn a living for their families.

Think about that for a moment. You and I are being asked to allow our nation to be over-run, our language replaced, our neighbor's job and possibly your own given to a foreign national. We are being asked to pay their children's education. We are being asked to give them free health care. We are being asked to accept hospitals having to reduce services across the board, in order to recoup the expenditures for which hospitals are not reimbursed. Not only do you pay for illegal aliens health care, your own is being savaged in the process. You may not think so. That's okay. It is. All of this is asked, or more accurately demanded of you and I. We have very little choice.

I have never read an article about starvation in Mexico. I have never read of children being taken to mass orphanages because parents couldn't support them. I have never seen expansive stories about homelessness. Although Tijuana's cardboard city is legendary, people seem to be able to survive over there. I don't like the fact that Mexico's government allows this, but I am powerless to do anything about it. Trashing my own nation is not an option as far as I am concerned.

Look, I don't like homeless people on the streets of Los Angeles, but I'm not going to invite ten of them into my house to fix it. The United States is your and my house.

What I see is a massive number of people who wanted to live a better life, and decided to take that life from us. As your tax dollars go to pay for these people, that is exactly what is happening. They are taking from us. Lets be clear about this. These folks were not dying. They were not in danger of losing their family. They were not in danger of starving. What we are talking about, is a bunch of people who wanted a better life. That's it. That's all it amounted to.

How about you folks? It's all relative. I mean you're not dying. You're not in danger of losing your family. You're not in danger of starving. What we are talking about here is a better life. Do you want a better life? That's it. That's all we're talking about here.

Under the current policy of the United States, foreign nationals are entitled to a better life. Unless we're a racist nation, U.S. Citizens should be entitled to a better life also. As we have seen, breaking laws is an approved method of achieving a better life. It's okay for people to break into our nation. People can work in violation of U.S. laws. People are entitled to free health care for their whole family, and all children are entitled to a free education. That this can be achieved is proof positive that crime does pay, and all it takes to justify this is that you want a better life for you and your family.

This is rather liberating. I've wanted a new home for quite some time. Tomorrow morning I can go outside, take one look at the beautiful day, get in my car and go shopping. By tomorrow evening I'll have picked out a great new house, where I plan to move in. I'll pack up and move in on the following day. The next day I'll pick out a new car on the local dealer's lot and demand the keys. If I show up at the door, they'll have to serve me. Our current health care polices for illegal immigrants have proven that.

If I want more income, I'll just go to the local bank and have one of my kids walk up to the teller and demand $100,000. After all, the children of illegal immigrants are given a $100,000 education for free. When that runs out, I make certain to have had another kid who can walk up to the teller.

You know, this illegal immigration thing is looking better all the time. I take that headline back. I think it's the obstructionists like myself who have been depantsed. Who could argue against what the apologists for illegal immigrant have been backing for decades. I think they may be on the right track after all.

Hey folks, there's going to be a party at my new home on the 17th, I'll post the address, date and time later so all my friends with new homes, new cars and lots of cash can drop by.

U.S. flags optional of course...

Since you made the absurd statement about how many would "burst" in, I corrected you by reminding you that there are quotas. I pointed out that you don't know anything about quotas, instead basing your misinformation on emotional exaggerations.

Just like you exaggerate the crime stats.

BTW Ben, what happens when those quotas drop below 3-5 million per year? Any guesses based on recent history?

This is exactly what it boils down to. We're being fleeced and called racists, to boot. Meanwhile, Mexico, who is really racist, dumps its 'despised brown peasants' over the border and laughs all the way to the bank.

In case this wasn't touched on before my post: Doughty One was being sarcastic. The new house was a metaphor for what Mexicans are doing by crossing the border and taking American jobs. They send many billions back to Mexico, Guatemala, wherever, take advantage of free US welfare -- one third of all illegals are on welfare -- education, medical. They have that anchor baby asap. We're paying for that, you and I, through higher taxes and higher medical costs, etc.. Meanwhile, Jose sends enough money home to buy lots of land back in Mexico...or Guatemala or Costa Rica, Brazil, etc.. We're being fleeced. The country is being highjacked, and it has to stop.

I can't recall the exact percentage of illegals incarcerated for felonies in California, but it's huge. California taxpayers are shouldering that burden along with health, welfare, education, etc.. It's bad.

Some mexicans are involved in organized crime, ergo all mexicans are criminals.
Some Italians are involved in organized crime, ergo all Italians are criminals.
Some Russians are involved in the Russian Mafia, ergo all Russians are criminals.

Sorry, rose colored glasses don't work for me. I see emergency rooms overwhelmed, hospitals closing, one third of illegals on welfare, all those ridiculous Mexican flags, the shouts of reconquista! Aztlan, Gringos get out!, etc. Even if most of the kids' flag waving is adolescent rebellion, you'd think they'd see the irony. But no. They wave the flag of the nation they couldn't wait to run away from. How stupid is that.

Whole villages are now deserted now in Mexico. Poverty is spreading. The country is being depopulated. One quarter of its citizens are already here. One half of those remaining are packing for the trip north. That's the middle class. This is not good for Mexico, and anyone who thinks it is is nuts.

What else do I see? Fox and his pals taking a percentage of every dollar sent south and the billions now topping oil and drug revenue. I see Mexican soldiers helping drug/alien smugglers, shooting at US border patrol officers, invading the US seemingly with impunity.

I see people...some...not all... who don't want to assimilate. They think America should accomidate them. Speak Spanish, not English. The sad fact is that many think they'll go back 'home' once they've made enough money, but most realize in time that 'home' is a third world country filled with corruption and worse. So they don't go 'home'. They stay here. The kids eventually learn English, but many adults never do. This creates ghettos.

American culture, mores, customs, laws are being devalued, trashed, disregarded. We are an English speaking, Judeo/Christian nation with a Protestant work ethic. English binds us together. This is bedrock important. America is an idea, a mental thing, a state of mind, and if you look around the world, there's no other nation where people of so many cultures, countries, languages, manage to get along. Why? Because we assimilated them in smaller numbers and they learned English and US laws because they desired to be Americans. That's not what's going on now.

I was so busy trying to make my rose colored glasses work that I forgot the increase in antibiotic resistant TB, leprosy, and Hepatitis C, traced to illegals. The TB is especially troublesome since you have to take antibiotics for months, and illegals don't do it for one reason or another. Then the disease spreads, and considering that many illegals work in the fast food industry, the risk of drug resistant TB spreading is enormous. We'd wiped out many diseases in this country, now because of broken borders, they're returning and some in a more virulent form.

Positive reinforcement, another name for amnesty --and will simply hasten many more millions heading north, and not just from Mexico. The entire southern hemisphere, plus anywhere else in the world where they don't like living conditions or the weather. We should be holding Mexico's feet to the fire and make them 'invest' in their infrastructure to lure their citizens back home. They're well able to rebuild the place from top to bottom.

There's simply no excuse for this. It's as if Uncle Sam decided to go into the garage, start the car, and shut the door tight. We are committing suicide.

Until I have time to read this thuroughly I'm just going to post this as it appears to be relevant:

Many know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. Recently there was an immigration-overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of American's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor named Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, "Mexifornia," explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream.

Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. The audience sat spellbound as he described eight methods for the destruction of the United States. He said, "If you believe that America is too smug, too self-satisfied, too rich, then let's destroy America. It is not that hard to do. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall and that 'An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.'"

1. "Here is how they do it," Lamm said: "Turn America into a bilingual or multi-lingual and bi-cultural country. History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict, and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. It is a blessing for an individual to be bilingual; however, it is a curse for a society to be bilingual.

"The historical scholar Seymour Lipset put it this way: 'The histories of bilingual and bi-cultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension, and tragedy.' Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion. France faces difficulties with Basques, Bretons, and Corsicans."

2. Lamm went on: "Invent 'multiculturalism' and encourage immigrants to maintain their culture. I would make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural differences. I would make it an article of faith that the Black and Hispanic dropout rates are due to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.

3. "We could make the United States an 'Hispanic Quebec' without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the Atlantic Monthly recently: 'The apparent success of our own multi-ethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentrically and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.'"

4. Lamm said, "I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. I would replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America reinforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities."

5. "Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated, and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school."

6. "My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of 'Victimology.' I would get all minorities to think their lack of success was the fault of the majority. I would start a grievance industry blaming all minority failure on the majority population."

7. "My sixth plan for America's downfall would include dual citizenship and promote divided loyalties. I would celebrate diversity over unity. I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other - that is, when they are not killing each other."

"A diverse, peaceful, or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshiped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy Persia threatened their liberty. Yet all these bonds were not strong enough to over come two factors: local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. "E. Pluribus Unum" -- >From many, one. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the 'pluribus' instead of the 'unum,' we can balkanize America as surely as Kosovo."

8. "Next to last, I would place all subjects off limits ~ make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of 'diversity.' I would find a word similar to 'heretic' in the 16th century - that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like 'racist' or 'xenophobe' halt discussion and debate."

"Having made America a bilingual/bi-cultural country, having established multi-culturism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of 'Victimology,' I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: That because immigration has been good for America, it must always be good. I would make every individual immigrant symmetric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them."

9. In the last minute of his speech, Governor Lamm wiped his brow. Profound silence followed. Finally he said, "Lastly, I would censor Victor Hanson Davis's book Mexifornia. His book is dangerous. It exposes the plan to destroy America. If you feel America deserves to be destroyed, don't read that book."

There was no applause. A chilling fear quietly rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Every American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today. Every discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate 'diversity.'

American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations create a Third World in America - take note of California and other states - to date, ten million illegal aliens and growing fast. It is reminiscent of George Orwell's book "1984." In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: "War is peace," "Freedom is slavery," and "Ignorance is strength."

Governor Lamm, walked back to his seat. It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great democracy is deeply in trouble and worsening fast. If we don't get this immigration monster stopped within three years, it will rage like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially The American Dream.

Objectively speaking, much of what you say is true, but grossly exaggerated.

There is a demographic reality that you refuse to accept. You are in denial.

Meanwhile the the worker to retiree ratio is 3 to 1 and falling.

The reality is that the US will have a need to import labor. You can let them in as citizens, guest workers, illegals, or a combination there-of. You can let them in as mexicans, asians, africans, muslims, or any combination there-of. I'm sure that you would prefer them to come from Europe, but you see, for every european that comes to the US, Europe has to import one more muslim.

You and I couldn't agree more, regarding liberalism, socialism and Marxism being the root cause of the immigration problem. I'd even agree that if we want to solve the problem, we treat the symptoms. If we crush liberalism I have no doubt that these woes and others will subside. I also agree that a return to the consitition is warranted. Along with you, I am thankful that Bush is appointing some good judges. As far your comments go, I consider them to be quite solid. I'm glad we can agree on them.

We both agree that the beast must be slain. Are we seeing the beast slain? I think we can agree that some actions are being taken to weaken the beast. I also think that if we are honest with ourselves, we'll admit that the beast is alive and looking quite well.

To a greater degree than ever before, this goes beyond the political spectrum today. Within the last two weeks, we dodged a bullet as it relates to our free speech. By the narrowest of margins, we retained our ability to voice our support for political candidates prior to elections.

I firmly believe that John Kerry would be president today if it weren't for the intenet, and my observation on that point is that John McCain and Ted Kennedy are working as feaverishly as possibly, to remedy this situation. What would this do to our ability to slay the beast? With regard to Kerry, it would have set back that effort by at least four and possibly eight years, perhaps more. These days my thoughts often turn to how long we can continue to watch our nation slide down hill with regard to open borders.

Beyond the problem of what happens when liberals hold power, is the problem of what happens when "conservatives" hold power. Is the beast weakened by doubling the education budget? Is the beast weakend by our side signing bills that limit free speach? Is the beast weakened by unwittingly allowing the border policies advocated by a number of radical leftistist organizations that have links to some of the worst elements on the planet, to be observed? Is the beast going to be defeated by legalizing the massive flow of poor under-educated people into our nation?

When 500,000 thousand people move onto the streets of the United States in mass, in one city alone, carrying signs that leave no doubt what their goals are for the immediate future of our nation, is it weakening the beast to continue to ingore what must be done? I have been advocating more sane border policy for the last twelve years. You have been advocating a return to the Constitution for at least that long, perhaps much longer. I have shared that desire. In all honestly Jim, have we won? Do you see our policies being rolled back to the founding principles anytime soon?

Do you think health care benefits for illegal immigrants are going to be removed any time soon? Do you think free education to the millons of children of illegal immigrants will be denied any time soon? In short, do you honestly think the beast is on the brink of extermination?

I believe we have fifteen to twenty-five million illegal immigrants in the U.S. at this moment. If a guest-worker program is implemented to eliminate the need for illegal immigration, it will have to provide access to at least three to five million people per year. If it doesn't, everyone that can't get on a guest-worker program, will simply continue to immigrate illegaly. Either way, the inward flow will remain at three to five million or higher. And once those folks come here, they will still have access to free health care and education.

If we do not cut off the flow, we will have upwards of 100 million new recent foreign nationals by the end of ten years from this moment. If we wait until we kill the beast, the beast is going to kill us off first. Our suicidal policies are going to facilitate that for us.

Jim, the leftist advocates of hispanic illegal immigration are unified with the very elements of the beast that you mentioned in your response to me. How will we ever stand a chance to kill that beast, if we import lovers of the beast in vast enough numbers to perpetually vote in people who love the beast?

As bad as the beast is, we have barely skimmed by, by the skin of our teeth the last two elections. As folks are naturalized in massive numbers, they are not going to suddenly disaprove of the beast. they will have been in bed with it so long, they'll know nothing else.

As many views as you and I share, I cannot sign on to putting off what needs to be done until we have slain the beast. The beast has nearly eaten our southern border. It's feasting upon goods and services and is longingly looking to our electoral votes and some of the few bones that haven't been licked clean.

I long for simple answers to this problem Jim. I believe there may have been some ten years ago or more. Today only hard choices remain. If we do not make the ones now that will return our nation to the rule of law and undo what we have allowed to take place, and in fact resort to implementing laws that will simply legalize what was illegal, the beast will have completed an end run on us.

We stand on the brink. Our future is ours to choose. Will we select options that will truly return us to the founding principles on all counts, or will we put that off and continue in another direction, down the road to an alternate nation foreign to us all.

-

I appologize for taking so long to respond. Because I did, I pinged folks that had participated on this thread, thinking they might be interested.

I'm not as worried about crime rates, frankly, as I am in the shape of the US, who we are, our common language, where we owe our loyalties. We can't absorb so many people of an alien language/culture/mores, and expect to successfully assimilate them as we have in the past.

Vincent "the rat" might be corrupt but he is not stupid. Why would he want to take care of his own citizens when he found somebdy else to do it for him (free of charge) and not have to listen to them bitch. Kind of like shipping your kids off somewhere out of state to work and then have them mail their paychecks home to the parents.

No Ben, we've refuted that analogy a number of times on this thread. Just between you and I, telling an untruth 50,000 times does not make it true.

What we are saying is that every crime committed by an illegal immigrant was a crime that did not have to take place on our soil, and the victims did not deserve to die at the hands of another that YOU still seek to facilitate coming here under the cloak of legitimacy.

There is a criminal element that accompanies all illegal immigrants into the U.S. If all illegal immigration were stopped, that criminal element would not be able to prey on our citizens.

Illegal immigration must stop, so that lives and victims can be saved and spared. You don't know which illegal is a criminal. They must ALL abide by our laws.
