In a Friday afternoon news conference, Georgia Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-4th) said that the altercation between she and a Capitol police officer was started by the officer "inappropriately touching and stopping" her after she walked past a security checkpoint.
Prior to the news conference that, at times, seemed more like a church revival meeting, one of McKinney's lawyers, James W. Myart Jr. said that her problems with police are racial in nature.
Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, like thousands of average Americans across this country, is, too, a victim of the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials because of how she looks and the color of her skin, Myart said. Ms. McKinney is just a victim of being in Congress while black.
McKinneys office on Thursday afternoon, released a video clip from the independent documentary American Blackout, in which McKinney is questioned by a Capitol police officer who does not immediately recognize her. In the clip, she implies that the questioning is because she is black.

Is McKinney going to be appeased because of the color of her skin?
she wasn't safe when so many folks crossed over and voted her out... .
Also interesting to note not a single other democrat house member (that I saw) was with her.
LOL...The rest of the RATS don't want to be within miles of her.
I doubt that she takes advice from anyone other than, perhaps, her father. When in the 2000 election she was defeated in the Democrat primary by another black woman, Cynthia's father Billy--a Georgia state politician who has race cards up every sleeve--was asked why she lost. As it was hard to claim racism when the winner was the same race as Cynthia, he blamed her defeat on the Jews.
Yeah, too bad the officer wasn't a black female, then she wouldn't have any cards to play.
He would have been justified in tasering her, IMO.
And of course HER history of punching police officers isn't a historical pattern. After all, she's just a helpless little woman with no power and no way to protect herself. It's not like she's a member of the most powerful deliberative body in the world....oh, wait. Never mind.
"has race cards up every sleeve"
what black politician in Georgia doesn't - or didn't, with the exception of Herman Cain?
That video has probably disappeared ala the Rose Law Firm files.
Put Cindy and Naomi Campbell in a cell together. Ignore screams.
what we really need is to hear from the widows of the Capitol Police who were killed in the line of duty. That would be an interesting interview...
She is a good example of the dark downside of gerrymandering.
How long do you think it will be before she turns up on Oprah?? They can share their horror stories, Oprah can go on again how she couldn't buy a scarf in Hermes 'cause she's black....had nothing to do with the fact that it was quittin time and no Parisian is going to work past the clock!!
List of celebrities who donated to Cynthia McKinney
Actually, the list includes everyone who's ever donated to McKinney, if you click the letters at the top and bottom.
seems between the senate and house there are over 600 members of congress. 635 I think. The cap police are supposed to recognoze each and every one of them on sight each day, no matter what the are wearing or the new hairdo this lady constantly has? That seems to be kind of a high standard to hold the cap police to. Maybe instead of learning to recognize all of the members, they should just get trained to recognize the black ones?
She's lucky. In most countries, bulling through a police checkpoint is a quick ticket to a pistol-whipping at best, or more likely, the morgue. The fact that she wasn't shot or beaten bloody speaks highly of the restraint used by the officer, IMHO.
Couldn't get past the "A"'s, but the celebrity roster is not surprising. When the hell are these people moving to France?!
Never mind other countries, what do you think would happen to us if we resisted a police officer for any reason, much less hit him? We would be face down on the floor in handcuffs, that's what.
As a follow up to the celebrity donor list, look at all these Arabic names of donors to McKinney's campaigns. Hello!
