In a Friday afternoon news conference, Georgia Representative Cynthia McKinney (D-4th) said that the altercation between she and a Capitol police officer was started by the officer "inappropriately touching and stopping" her after she walked past a security checkpoint.
Prior to the news conference that, at times, seemed more like a church revival meeting, one of McKinney's lawyers, James W. Myart Jr. said that her problems with police are racial in nature.
Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, like thousands of average Americans across this country, is, too, a victim of the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials because of how she looks and the color of her skin, Myart said. Ms. McKinney is just a victim of being in Congress while black.
McKinneys office on Thursday afternoon, released a video clip from the independent documentary American Blackout, in which McKinney is questioned by a Capitol police officer who does not immediately recognize her. In the clip, she implies that the questioning is because she is black.

Didn't take long for that card to be played.
Yep.
That this is a story shows the shortcomings of a 24/7 news cycle. There isn't much in the way of new news going on and the broadcast stations are looking for a way to keep ratings up. So we're treated to this non-story.
Look for this investigation to peter out and the story to dissappear before long.
Local Atlanta news is reporting that the Fraternal Order of Police (not sure if local chapter or national chapter) has issued a statement in support of the Capitol Police and gave a scathing statement against McKinney and her actions.
SMUG ALERT
Sadly, this disgusting turdette will get away with assault by playing these race and gender cards.
I want to see it too.
I want to see if she realized she was shoving a policeman and not just some stranger grabbing her arm.
You don't wave the bloody shirt not knowing what the other side has in reserve(i.e. videotapes)
Average American, I beg to differ, she is dumb as a rock.
"....said that the altercation between she and a Capitol police officer..."
Someone cannot distinguish between an object and a subject.....
Typical! Why am I not surprised?
Didn't take long for that card to be played.
When it's the only one you have......
As I noted on the live thread, the presser was surreal. She must have some real criminal exposure...
Pu-leeze. Who would want to touch that skank...
For some blacks, the mere presence of a friendly greeting from a white person is enough to invoke the race card.
No matter what evidence you have, it's never their fault.
Well of course she's innocent, she's black isn't she? That cop should be sent back to the academy, he obviously didn't attend the class that instructed how he should automatically consider blacks innocent.
Always Whitey's fault. Just who sees color first here?
McKinney's voters should be ashamed . . . very ashamed.
But something tells me they're proud of her tonight.
Sickening and disgusting.
Flavor Flavvv
As an Atlantan, I'd like to see this woman get her just rewards for this arrogant stunt.
