LIBERTY CITY -- Police in this Miami neighborhood are looking for the parents of a child who was abandoned Thursday night, news partner NBC 6.
A witness told police that a car dropped the child off at about 11 p.m. in the area of Northwest 15th Avenue and 62nd Terrace.
"I've heard of this happening with pets and that's bad, but for this to happen to a child, to be left in the middle of nowhere, that's unbelievable," police spokesman Lt. Bill Schwartz said.
Police brought the child to the police department. She was wearing an oversized, multi-colored sweater and has white beads in her hair.
"This child was seen running down the street on 62nd Terrace from 15th Avenue Northwest, screaming, 'Daddy, daddy' and chasing a car -- a light brown or gold older model vehicle," Schwartz said.
Police canvassed the area but have not located the girl's parents. They also do not know the identity of the child, who they believe is 4 or 5 years old.

Tears and prayers for this sweet and precious, innocent, little one.
OK. You are now the third poster in less than thirty minutes to make a racial remark. Sacjac (of recently departed memory) has his "hebes," Thoreau has his "beaners", and you, in response to a sad story of a little girl being abandoned, turn it into something racial.
This place is becoming unrecognizable.
Thank you. You responded while I was still seething. The child has been abandoned and these good conservatives can only think of racial stereotypes.
I swear, I think some FReepers are wearing Klan robes when they post.
Poor baby. I hope they find a loving family for her.
What the hell kind of people would do something like this?
I have had to train my brain to react differently to stories like this one...that this child has been blessed and saved today by the Lord God. As much as it hurts me to read about children who are treated better than week-old garbage, I am left praising Him for His goodness. And though it is hurting this precious child of God right now, she is with people who will not leave her crying on another street corner. Who knows right now, but we maybe are seeing what we always pray for when we hear of another child beaten to death by the hands of a parent. Maybe...just maybe, this little sweetie was pushed out of the car in a moment of her parent's sanity.
And that has to do with what exactly?
You're fortunate, and I mean that sincerely. My own mother left when I was a baby, but even she had enough of a shred of decency to leave me with my father, who promptly pawned me off on one relative and caregiver after another until I was old enough to be warehoused in a working class boarding school for 12 years. The poor little one in the above news story was just dumped on the sidewalk. In my experience, I've known far more people like my mother and this child's father than like your mother. So as brutal as my first post was, it's an honest assessment of humanity from my point of view.
I did not mean you when saying "both".
The RedNeck was the intended target.
My apologies.
You said it.
I'm not surprised anymore actually.
At least she wasn't killed. Sometimes it is better to just let go than go on.
There's that.
There is also all those pretty beads in her hair. That takes hours to do. Somebody cared for her.
And while I am just as apt as the next FReeper to jump to conclusions, as of right now, we have no idea who pushed her out of that car, and why.
While the search is ongoing for her family, we can at least be thankful she is alive.
I think you may be right. The child was abandoned by people who did not care about her. Now, at least she is in a safe place and will be cared for.
I hope perhaps a grandparent who actually loves her will come forward and take her home.
I don't have much in the way of good thoughts about foster care--too many horror stories there, too.
The race of the people is the most important thing to some people, but don't call them racists, cause they're NOT. They say so.
Agreed. Monsters like this are the same as killers.
Oh, I thought this was another Randy Johnson story.
I have seen plenty of bad people who were nevertheless good parents.
I don't want to belabor the point but yes, Mother was truly a great person. Her entire life was her Children and Husband. My Sister thinks she was too kind. I know what she means but that is not really possible. She was also beautiful.
This little girl doesn't look like she has been abused. Maybe some story here but any Father who would do that is worse than worthless.
