I doubt that I'll ever get to meet Xzibit, the "Pimp Master of Ceremonies" on MTV's hit show, Pimp My Ride. That's too bad, because I could give him the ultimate challenge: Dude, forget about junk'd cars all over New Orleans -- you gotta pimp my mayor!
For those not familiar with the show, Xzibit and his colleagues at West Coast Customs pull raggedy vehicles off the road and turn the heaps "from dirt to pimped," according to the show's Web site. If Xzibit can do the same thing for a guy's political image, I respectfully submit that Mayor Ray Nagin needs a serious pimp-over. Coincidentally, the reason has a lot to do with dirty cars.

i was in nola a couple weeks ago. all the flooded cars are parked under freeway underpasses. it's kinda surreal.
on another note, I was also amazed at the amount of flooded cars in the lower 9th ward, were these not the folks saying they had no way to get out ????

Hey, C-man -- I got to meet Xzibit a few weeks ago. He surprised me. I don't watch MTV and have never heard of "Pimp My Ride." I was told that Mr. X was also a "hip-hop artist," which means rapper, right? In any case, he certainly
looked like a rapper, a gangsta Black Guy with Attitude type of character -- scar on his face and bandanna tied rakishly on his head, the whole bit -- rather intimidating to a middle-aged un-hip Whitey-Northern-European-type gal like myself.
Because he looked pretty tough and also because I wasn't familiar with his work, I wasn't really looking forward to chatting with him. But I was getting paid to do so ... and you know, the guy was a real prince! He was sweetly polite in a sincerely kind sort of manner, soft-spoken, humorous, very comfortable to be around, and had a highly admirable philosophy of hard work and perserverance -- the EXACT OPPOSITE of what his appearance led me to believe he might be.
Just wanted to share that!
