House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

I think the fix is in. "The Hammer" Tom Delay would never agree to amnesty.
---This will be the straw that breaks our backs here in our family.---
I was with Bush right up to this point. Handing over a bag of goodies to these illegals is totally unacceptable.
No, I was serious (and thank you for not flaming me!). I agree that our government has been extremely remiss in allowing the 12 million in, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to start deporting some of them now. We can't deport all of them, but deporting even some would send a message to the others, as well as to those considering coming here illegally.
It was either about reforming immigration legislation or throwing the dirty spics out. there seem to have been two distinct and separate streams."
Another diner of paint-chips on this thread??
Please check you race-card in at the door, jihad (???)
Any relation to former Freeper "cultural jihad"??
My personal gut feeling is secure the borders, kick em all out, and let em come back through proper channels; but I do not know if we can accomplish that without losing bigtime.
My biggest fear is that if we push for the house bill that the protests will get bigger and turn violent; and the MSM will make sure to blame anything horrible that happens on the administration and Republicans. That is why I say it is a LOSE/LOSE
So the point you are trying to make with this statement is that FR is a racist website? Is that why you signed up here a few days ago?
Your opinion of FR seems to be based on hearsay. This isn't the hotbed of race-hate that your buddies told you it was, though the race card does get pulled out with a fair amount of frequency as of late.
The facts you're providing are very encouraging. In the last couple of days I'd begun to think nothing had or would ever be done to staunch the flood of illegals, but this thread (outside of all the screaming and insults) has given me a better understanding of the issue.
I'm in the 'not enough' camp, but I am revolted by those who shriek that nothing has been done, when that is an outright lie.
If our dialogue on this issue is to be productive, the liars have to shut up and go away.
Apparently you are a xenophobe if you don't want to live in Mexico. If I wanted to live in Mexico, I'd move there.
How many were legislated before they weren't funded by Bush, and then under pressure, 1,700 got funded as if throwing a small bone out to those of us that are beyond fed up?
Hint: I know that answer too.
Any convertable visa program which includes citizenship is PURE AMNESTY.
Guest worker is just and only that GUEST. Guests go home to their country of origin.
This is about the US taxpayer providing money to these illegals as a foreign aid program.
Yes, the fix is in. We are betrayed again. Imagine my surprise. NOT.
Nice dodge.
So on your planet, when you throw the Republicans out, who will replace them?
Here on Earth, the Republicans won't be replaced by anyone who's stronger on immigration, but would love to hear how things are going on your world.
The liars fall into 3 camps.
1. People who are repeating what they've heard without actually doing any research of their own.
2. People who think that this immigration issue isn't getting enough attention (the lies and exagerations are their versions of shouting at people passing by on the street corner).
3. Professional disruptors (e.g. various 3rd parties left and right, Democrats, avowed leftists, Moby trolls, DK and DU misfits, etc.).
The 3rd group tends to claim that President Bush is somehow the "enemy" of the Right, as if he is out to get us, throw us into gulags, etc.
The other 2 groups just need to be reasoned with.
