This morning, President Bush announced from the Oval Office at the White House, the resignation of long time friend, and 5 year Chief of Staff, Andrew Card, and the appointment of Josh Bolten, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, to that position. Later, following a Cabinet Meeting, the President made a statement in the Rose Garden, surrounded by Cabinet members, about the progress in the government of Iraq, and the commitment of his administration to work with their counterparts in Iraq in the future.
In news of significance to all conservatives, both Lyn Nofziger (81), Reagan press secretary, and Caspar Weinberger (88), Reagan's Secretary of Defense, died in the past 24 hours. Both men served with distinction and will be missed.
Enjoy your trip to Sanity Island on the Daily Dose!
(Nice city you live in. :)
Nice to see you, rightgirl! Hope you enjoy the photos!
That is SO cool that you have those pictures on your night stand, snugs.
"Son, you're in Wisconsin now... This is God's country...it's a local call !"
I love it! :)
I have no records, Krodg (I just play along for fun).........BUT, I'm sure that if you were missed, our gracious and lovely snugs will be happy to find you a photo suitable for framing. :)
Thanks oWf! You said it well, and your kind words about our fair city are also appreciated.
Very true it is sad they seem to get a kick out of it.
Reeeeeeally. The plot thickens. Interesting, patriciaruth.
Moderator...Have we become the very people that Thomas Jefferson feared we would? Has polite dissent now be put on a par with corruption?
Who is being disruptive here? I have not made any negative posts, nor have I accused another of "bad mouthing" anyone.
To the contrary, I have submitted an image complimentary to President Bush that OhioWfan, for whatever his/her reasons, found so unsavory that the images of The Corrs should be "cropped out".
I resent, and am insulted, that OhioWfan holds the Irish in such disdain and disrespect that they should be expunged from any image alongside the President.
May I please add my gratitude and appreciation for what your talent has wrought. This is absolutely stunning - and you have captured the man to a tee.
Wow! It's a cardio workout! Straight up from the coast to the top of the peninsula.
It wasn't hot on Saturday, but I sure got warm getting up to the top of it.
(Son and daughter RAN up it.........and then ran to Cabrillo Monument after that!)
LOL! You're right. They are just like rats on a treadmill, running and running, trying to find scandal where there is none.
I knew this would happen just as soon as I heard the announcement this morning on Tony Snow's show.
I am sorry I missed you do you remember the approximate date and do you have a favourite picture you would like
You're quite a piece of work, aren't you?
Amusing, though...........and a touch pathetic.
WELCOME BACK OHIO . . . Did you enjoy your trip? (I know, stupid questions)!
I found Andy Card's comments this morning particularly poignant and insightful:
SECRETARY CARD: Mr. President, Ecclesiastes reminds us that there are different seasons, and there is a new season. Working in the White House is a tremendous privilege. It's almost beyond description, the great privilege it is to work at the White House. But it is even a greater honor to serve as the President's Chief of Staff, especially to you, Mr. President.
I have watched as you have kept your oath to preserve, protect and defend our Constitution, and I know that there are a lot of people who help you do that, and it starts with the White House staff, goes through everybody who serves in the executive branch of government, and most especially those young men and women who wear uniforms and help defend us.
I've watched your leadership guide them during troubled times. I'm watched you comfort Americans, rally the world to meet real needs. I've watched as you've guided us from a recession to economic recovery. BUT MOST OF ALL, I'VE WATCHED YOU AS A PERSON. AND YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, MR. PRESIDENT, AND YOU DO GREAT THINGS.
I'm grateful for the friendship that you've shown me. I'm grateful for the love that Laura has shared with Kathi and with me. I'm grateful for the White House staff that has served you so well and helped me do a better job.
But it is a different season, and Josh Bolten is the right person for that season. I'm excited about the leadership that he will bring to the White House staff and to all of your government, and I'm grateful to the Cabinet that has helped to serve you, as well.
Mr. President, as a Chief of Staff, I know I was a staffer, and now I look forward to being your friend. Thank you, Mr. President.

Thanks! :-)
I'm so glad to see that, Ohio. Some FReepers have been so mean to Andy. He's done a great job and completely thanklessly.
I love this comment
"Mr. President, as a Chief of Staff, I know I was a staffer, and now I look forward to being your friend. Thank you, Mr. President"
Back in the day when Nixon got that 24%, the MSM didn't CREATE news with polls.
#####
Any guesses to why we never see poll numbers on Congress or on journalists? We have to train ourselves to be "interpretive" consumers of news, constantly asking ourselves "what are they not printing or showing us?" The answer will be the real news!
