Its time the "silent majority" lets the Senate know where we stand

I have great faith in the power of our system. We fight amongst ourselves but in the end, the America people "get it right" a lot more than we blow it. Now is the time for us to get it right.

Today we are facing the long simmering question of what to do with the illegal invaders who flood our country. Americans are a slow to boil over, live-and-let-live people. We are a nation of immigrants. We don't hate people because of where they come from and we are always looking to open our doors to those who want to follow our laws and become good Americans. Nevertheless, enough is enough.

All we want is to see a sensible end to this question. We have let the politicians try to handle it as we sat back and waited. The time for waiting is now over. These people obviously need a quick infusion of backbone.

We must be the adults here. We must remind these children, Democrat and Republican alike, about just how they got to where they are. We put them in office and we can take them out of office. Now is the time to send the message loud and clear. "Get this thing solved now!"

Each of the Senators listed below is up for election this year. Contact your Senator and send the message: Enforce the borders, Send criminal illegals back first then as many others as we can, and hand out stiff punishments to employers who make this county a temptation these illegals can't resist. And of course DO IT NOW! Don't tell us these illegals waving Mexican and other flags through our streets have had an effect on you. We don't want to hear that. We are the American voter and you damned well better listen to us!

Just what is better about the Rinos in office now? We have to do something or they will continue to do business as usual and we are the fall guys. If we vote third party they get the drift and start acting like conservatives, maybe. I can talk big, because the Republicans (Kyl, Franks) that I would vote for our going to win no problem in November, with or without me.

You mean that people vote for a candidate based on fundraising totals?

No, but the majority of voters are not politically engaged or informed and tend to go by what they see on TV. And that means cash to get the message out, to higher people and to maintain "visibility" before the election. A lot of cash. A typical Senate campaign is several million. This isn't being raised from the $10 and $20 from the normal person. It's the people who can marshall many donors to pony up the $2100 or whatever the max is.

The politicians spend a huge chunks of their time fundraising all through their terms (with the 2-year cycle of Congress, it's almost continuous). And the big donor base tends to favor the corporist interests over those of the normal working person.

So if you need at least $5M to run your campaign, and here are groups of persons who can raise several thousands, and over there are people who will give you - much less, let's say, who will the average politician be inclined to please?

Thank you for your well thought-out analysis. I don't have TV, and the people I associate with are well-informed conservatives, pure partyline Republican/Democrat voters or don't vote at all. It leaves me feeling the pols are wasting a lot of money on TV time.
Besides, I've been seeing a few stories that people don't even watch commercials anymore and the price of marketing is going down, so that could be good too.
Maybe they are better off spending money to influence TV Commentators, newspaper editors, authors, bloggers and columnists instead?

I just sent this message to Senator Bill Nelson:

Dear Senator Nelson,

As my Senator you are charged with upholding the Constitution of the United States; not part of it, all of it. Our current immigration laws specifically prohibit illegal entry across our borders by anyone who has not gone through proper legal channels.

Amnesty is not the answer, nor is it justification for "allowing illegals to fill jobs that Americans supposedly refuse to fill." I have no problem with people wanting to make and earn an living, but it must be done legally.

How about urging Mexico gets it's own house in order? Why must we be expected to look the other way, while more Mexican citizens pour across our borders unchecked?

Sir, I have no problem with immigrants wanting to become Americans and seek a better way of life, but I don't approve of changing our immigration laws to suit those who have broken and continue to break our laws. Granting one set of law breakers amnesty, while insisting that other lawbreakers be prosecuted is wrong. All lawbreakers should be treated equally. Otherwise, you owe every criminal now sitting in prison an apology.

Needless to say, I am against the Kennedy Senate Immigration Bill or any other Bill that may come before Congress that seeks to allow illegals a pass.

Changing the rules to satisfy those who habitually break our laws is a slap in the face to those immigrants who honorably entered this country the right way.
