Oral Roberts Breaks His Hip in Fall

OKLAHOMA CITY - University founder and evangelist Oral Roberts fell and broke his hip, Oral Roberts University officials said Friday.

Roberts, 88, broke his right hip Thursday night while on the way to the kitchen at his home near Palm Springs, Calif., according to a statement released by the university.

Roberts was taken in an ambulance to a hospital, where he was expected to undergo surgery.

His son, Richard Roberts, was informed by a physician that the hip injury was a clean break and a full recovery is expected, the release said.

Roberts is widely known for his evangelistic crusades that have been hosted in six continents, and for founding Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, where more than 5,000 students are enrolled

It used to be that a broken hip often was the beginning of the end for the elderly.

Bedridden, they often died from neumonia.

I'm pretty sure Benny Hinn will heal him, if he has enough faith! ;^)

God has told me, I must raise $1 million dollars for hip replacement surgery, or He's going to call me home.

Well I hope Oral Roberts makes a full recovery, and I'm sure even he wouldn't mind the retelling of a classic chuckle I heard many moons ago, about an elderly man and wife watching Oral Roberts on TV, and Oral's voice boomed out from the speaker, "whereEVER you are, take your right hand, and place it ON the TV set, and then place your LEFT hand wherever you are sick, hurt, ailing, and you will be HEALED!" -- the husband quickly reached out, touching the TV with his right hand, and put his left hand right on his groin, which prompted his wife to hit him over the head with a newspaper saying "ya damn fool! he said 'heal the SICK' not 'RAISE THE DEAD!!!"

Still makes me laugh ;)

So do they need Oral surgery?

Oral surgery was their first inclination but they opted for holistic healing. I give him five days.

IIRC, the hip breaks first, then the fall comes afterward.

The whole Country owes him a quiet prayer for his well being.

This is not good at all at his age.

Everybody, say a tiny prayer for the old boy. He spent his whole adult life doing good as he saw it. I'm sure countless folks were touched by him in a positive way.

He was not a perfect man, but he did base his career on the perfect Book.

God bless his family who are also suffering the pain of anxiety as they worry about the condition of their frail beloved one.
