Wed. was another in a long line of Wednesdays spent in front of the statehouse in Columbia, SC. I have been doggedly counter protesting some misguided peaceniks (A.K.A. appeasement-niks). As I am a new Freeper, this is my first after action. This past Wednesday I was the only counter protester. Usually I have another army wife who joins me. As I walked up the street toward the location where 9-10 members of this scrappy group were assembled, cars beeped and gave thumbs up and shouts of support while I walked with my Support the troops, Support the Mission and my Honk to Support Iraqi Freedom signs. I could plainly see the expressions of disdain on the group's faces at the discovery that I had shown up again. Since this goes 5-6 PM there is usually quite a bit of traffic. Its pretty comical when I see someone drive by, see the demoralizing signs of the enemies of America and suddenly realize that I am out there holding up for the home team. Eager honks, waves, and thumbs up follow. One guy went by driving an ambulance with his hand out in the thumbs down to the enemies. He began to do the same to me until he read my signs at which he decided a sudden thumbs up and a siren blurp might be more appropriate than just a beep. I didnt interact with the nutcases since in the past I have seen these people of peace push a friend into oncoming traffic, have had another scream full force inches from my face, and another ball up a fist in frustration as though he would punch me in the face. (Its funny that these people are more determined to defend their bit of sidewalk than their own country.) All the time spent was well worth it when as I was walking to my car, a young man with a pretty girl arm in arm came up to me and gave me a big hug. It was somewhat awkward as I was holding my two signs, but he didnt notice. He said he just wanted to thank me so much. He said he was back from Iraq for a couple weeks and had seen the demoralizing signs (End the Occupation, Lies Kill, etc.)of the enemies and was so encouraged to see my signs and hear the beeping and cheering for it. We talked a bit comparing locations in Iraq and sharing information about my husbands and his units. As he turned to leave, I told him to please let his battle buddies know that the vast majority of America knows they are heroes doing the work of heroes. He said, Thanks, I can tell! It was so awesome. It is why I am there and have been in the heat of summer and the cold of winter. I know I will never convince appeasers because they refuse to let the facts get in the way of their arguments. It is for that guy and the others who I have talked to over the past year. It is for the wives and family members who have a chance to share their pride that their loved one is defending our freedom.
You have done us all proud. Do you think these people are organized or they just show up randomly?
You've done well. Courage to you and any other SC FReepers who come to help you in the future. I grew up in West Columbia and am disheartened to hear the news that the beautiful State House grounds are infested with wretched Leftist scum and villainy. We've been on the move against the local Leftists here in Louisville and youi'll be cheered by this report:

Do not hesitate to call in for reinforcements when the need arises.
BTW, it was great meeting you in Fayetteville!

These are the two groups that organize this farce.
Thank you for being out there!
Be careful doing it alone, though.

Great observation, and they use violence so easily, while they claim to be for "peace".
Thanks for your time.
You did an outstanding job on the FReep and the AAR! Thank you so much for being there. Thank you and your husband for your service to our country!
I didnt interact with the nutcases
I don't blame you...why cast your pearls before swine.
How wonderful you were in Fayetteville last week-end. That is where I began my FReeping career just one year ago. I am now a member of the prestigious "3-fer Club. ;*)
OK BufordP,
HELLO flib!
Well done
3-fer Club? Can I join? Sounds like a lotta fun! Do I have to pay dues? Is there an initiation?!
No comment! ;*)
Hey, flib, great job!
Wonderful work! Thank you.
Your report gave me goosebumps and tears.
Thanks for the flag.
